NYT and Newsweek are now fringe? The Azov statement is directly from the Azov X account. They should never add that many people to any small town, it wouldn't matter if they were German or Amish, adding a third of the current population of any city would disrupt services and cause chaos.

See... the thing with these guys is that they do lots of crazy shit. You can't just pick one thing out of the grab bag of crazy and use it to make a random connection... doing so kinda is the same crazy connection stuff that these guys do. The media keeps throwing out random facts which is not helpful and just feeds the fevered minds of people who are cooking up conspiracy theories.

Eventually patterns will emerge. One pattern that has already shown up is that he spent too much time saying odd things on the internet.

True stans would be more ruthless (ask anyone who has pissed off a Lovatic). And less likely to miss, although it's not even clear that this latest one had a chance to fire a shot before he was discovered.

It has offered proof that people who buy these weapons are not marksmen. They're dependent upon being in close range and wasting a lot of ammo. Anytime that I hear someone say that they need assault weapons to hunt deer, I just laugh.

OK so what Newsweek actually says is that he's being charged with two firearm violations, he is not charged with attempted murder, he is not verified to have anything to do with Azov or Ukraine. "Witnesses" say heard gunfire, but no one knows from whom.

Toad is perfectly fine and doesn't seem to have ever been in actual danger, and frankly if you run around calling for political violence, you fucking reap what you sow.

The media did a lot of stories about guys who flew over to Ukraine after the Russian invasion. Some were ex-military guys who might have some value in warfare. There were also a lot of lost souls without military experience who spoke only English.

By coincidence, a WaPo/NYT reporter who is former military and who reports on Ukraine happened to meet and interview Routh a few times. This is probably a more insightful NYT article (and a CNN video clip of an interview with the reporter).

The Azov connection is just silliness.

He was just another person looking to try to help Ukraine beat back the savage invasion, occupation and slaughter of its people by rrrZZZia. There were lots of people trying to see how they could help Ukraine create a front line defense against Putin's seizure of the Azov Sea and his butchery in Mariupol and other cities.

But at this point, with the way the war has gone, it has been unnecessary and impossible for people from outside to directly participate in the conflict.

I think though that his tilting at windmills response was likely an indication of his frame of mind.

Just an observation:

While MAGA rightly celebrates the fact that Donald Trump is alive and well and fundraising off yesterday's non-assassination attempt, many students in Springfield, Ohio are back to learning remotely, just like during lockdown, because the bomb threats Trump and JD Vance inspired with their lies about Haitian immigrants have shut their schools down.
