Trump this.

Trump has full control of all branches of government now. No one will be able to stop him. He is not just trolling. This is deadly serious.
Why stop him? It's a representative democracy. The people that Trump is nominating look pretty representative of his constituency.

The Trumpists want this. Let them have it.

If you're looking for a good read, buy Michael Lewis' "The Fifth Risk". In 2016, when the last Trump Administration skipped out on participating in the transition between the Obama and incoming Trump Administration, journalist Michael Lewis met with the Obama transition teams and got the briefings that the Trumpists skipped out on or didn't really participate in. Before these briefings, Lewis thought he knew what the Federal government did. He was shocked to find out that each agency had a critical role in the underpinnings of the American economy. Without those civil servants doing their jobs, America would be weaker.

There's little incentive for the Democratic Party to keep bailing the MAGA crowd out of the messes they create and the damage they do. There's been a series of Republican Administrations who triggered economic recessions, followed by Democratic Administrations that recovered the economy. The Democrats have also been fighting government shutdowns. Now that Trump is likely to have control of all 3 branches of government, let him wreck the ship. Perhaps that is the only want to end MAGA once and for all.

Meanwhile... ask anyone who is in a technical graduate program about the ethnicity of their fellow grad students. They'll likely say that there's a large number of Chinese nationals and a few European nationals in their program. That's because those countries are building a technocracy with their eyes toward the future.

America is building a future of CrytoBros, OnlyFans Creators, Instagram Influencers and personal trainers. In a generation, America won't be the world's superpower. And it will be of their own doing.

Do you all get now why I kept warning of the coming fascist apocalypse?
Matt Fucking Gaetz - Attorney General of the United States.
All hell breaking loose would be desirable compared to this.
This country is screwed.
Welcome to the Fourth Reich.

Gaetz as AG should be satire but him and the other clowns who will soon be running the government remind less of a fascist apocalypse than they do of a reborn Tammany Hall.

And I think Trump more crook than fascist…..unless being a fascist leads to a better haul.

The problem is that we all get hurt and the people who get hurt the most are the ones with the least.

The US will look like a failed banana republic by the time TrumpCo. is finsihed with it, but this time, the hatred won't be directed inward...this time the failed regime will turn it outward on imagined foreign enemies and influences.

Most of whom voted for Trump. They made their bed...

Here's my take: the American public had 4 years of Trump. He's never had an approval rating above 50%. They were warned that Trump was going to make a mess of things. They knew what they were getting. This is the future they chose.

Something else to consider: why did Trump make these announcements today? He did it because he didn't get his pick for Senate Leader to replace McConnell. McConnell's guy won. Trump's choices lost. This is part of the Days of Distraction.

Why stop him? I wouldn't if only the fools who voted for him suffered the consequences of their own actions. Unfortunately, everyone will be seriously hurt for a very long time. Trump is not only a threat to everyone in the U.S., he is a threat to the stability and safety of the whole world. Fortunately, in previous republican administrations, the damage was not severe enough that it couldn't be repaired in the next administration. What Trump and Project 2025 are talking about is annihilating entire agencies; obliterating them out of existence to the point of being irrecoverable for a very long time. If RFK jr, for instance, wiped out FDA and CDC, you can't just rebuild that in the next administration. It would take many ears to put all that back together, if you even could do it.

Trump is also trying to push these through as recess appointments, bypassing Senate confirmation and allowing Trump to do whatever he wants.
According to this article, Thune, the new leader, supports it. So I don't think Trump got any kind of defeat. He is still getting what he wants. All of these people he nominated being in these positions is a very real probability.

I really fear we are going to have to go through this fascist period with all the same turmoil and consequences, just as Germany did. And possibly worse.
It will happen unless republicans get some character and courage to stand up to Trump. Do you think that will happen? I don't. Because most of them want what Trump is doing.

More information is coming out about the Gaetz nomination.

The rumor is that after 3 years, the promised Congressional Ethics Committee investigation into Matt Gaetz was going to be released on Friday. The leaks hinted that the documentation of Gaetz' drug use, sexual proclivities and financial irregularities were going to be very damaging.

When the nomination for AG happened, Gaetz resigned from Congress (after being overwhelming being re-elected by his district 2 weeks ago!). The resignation kills the Ethics investigation, making it unlikely that the report will be released.

Unless it gets leaked. :D

I agree that is the risk. However, if we learned anything from the COVID experience, the American public doesn't award prevention. There's a majority of Americans who believe that over 1 million (and counting) deaths "wasn't that bad". When Biden came into office and appointed competent people to distribute vaccines, the American public just turned those prevention efforts into more conspiracy theories and "government tyranny".

It's possible that this is also another distraction. It may be that the Matt Gaetz type nominations are being used as bargaining chips. Trump will use it to get his other odious nominations through the confirmation process. Eventually, they will say, "OK, we'll withdraw Gaetz if a) you agree not to have the DOJ indict him and b) if you confirm the rest of our nominees." Trump might be a doddering 78 year old but this time around, he has a lot of competent strategists on his team.

There are a few people who are on to the strategy:
Donald Trump’s increasingly provocative Cabinet picks have left some Republican senators aghast and Washington in shock.

But they really shouldn’t. Because the outrage is the point...

Trump’s short-lived former first-term communications director Anthony Scaramucci told CNN’s Jake Tapper that the president-elect’s personnel selections were purposely meant to “own the liberals.” Paraphrasing Trump’s intent, he added: “‘Let’s pick some triggering people.’ And those are the triggering people.”

Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman agreed, telling CNN’s Manu Raju of the Gaetz selection: “It’s just kind of like a god-tier, kind of trolling, just to trigger a meltdown.”

I knew the report would never be released. Gaetz has some very powerful owners. I wonder what they paid to have Trump appoint him AG?

Gaetz has more enemies than friends. I suspect that Kevin McCarthy is working the phones to get that report leaked. He has lots of time for retribution.

I would think she will want to be in the West Wing like Ivanka was. So much easier to grift from an office located there.

She has 2 children - 5 and 7 years old.

Good to see that she's keeping with the family tradition of having the children raised by the help. We'll have to see how long it is before that marriage ends now that she's gotten addicted to the spotlight.

From Dan Rather today:

"For those who knew Trump would reveal his full authoritarian bent sooner rather than later,
welcome to sooner."

People getting into that holiday spirit.

And a bit of counter programming...

Even though the anti-christ is no more real than the biblical era history that gave rise to mythology about evil leaders...ya gotta admit that the checks quite a few boxes.
