This is actually kind of weird, I think. Because around passover time in the Spring, Coca-Cola sells Coke made with cane sugar in 2 Litre bottles. It has a yellow cap instead of red cap to easily identify it. I guess because high fructose corn syrup is not kosher, and they provide it for the Jewish community. I buy it every year when I can. It might just be in my head, but I think it tastes slightly better. It's on the regular shelves along with everything else. So it is not that they can't make Coke with cane sugar, it all about the economics.

AFAIK, Coke has always bottled "kosher" drinks with the yellow cap to signify such. Not just during Passover.

Pepsi Throwback was made with cane sugar and was widely available...but I haven't seen it for a while.

Palm Beach County was known for sugar growing, especially inland around Belle Glade and Pahokee....

Well, I've only been able to buy Coca-Cola with cane sugar in the yellow cap bottles in the weeks before Passover and what's left on the shelf for a week or two afterward.
