Trump tweets because...he can.

There is ALWAYS 'ALTERNATE' TRUTHS.

'The days are getting longer.' Truth.
'The nights are getting shorter.' Alternate truth.

"The Twin Towers were brought down by jet crashes and uncontrolled fires, and metal fatigue." - Truth
"The Twin Towers were brought down by an implosion." - Alternate truth.

Alternate truths cannot be true. There can be only one truth. Truth is not binary. It is either true or it is not. It cannot be both.

However, despite incontrovertible proof, many people refuse to believe the truth and insist on believing in the impossible.

Donald Trump Claims 100 Percent Of His Foundation’s Money Goes To Charity. That’s A Lie.
Over $250,000 from The Donald J. Trump Foundation has reportedly been used to settle personal lawsuits.

The Associated Press reported his foundation had donated $25,000 to a political fundraising group associated with Florida’s Republican attorney general, Pam Bondi, in 2013.

^ Not to forget the fact that he can diss anyone who displeases him. Instead of a 70-year-old president-to-be, he acts more like a teenager tweeting to all his buddies that Suzie won't put out or that Johnny gives blowjobs in the bathroom near the chem lab after school.

Kind of like how Obama and McCain just got their balls busted by Netanyahu?

Thank you. I'm sitting' in a stinky casino and I can barely see with all the smoke. I just wanna hurl.

Yeah, yeah, democrats say that about every Republican. Remember how they demonized Romney? And they compared MRS Romney to Stalin. Wolf, wolf, wolf.

Trump talked about doing crimes openly is not a good thing.
Some one should make a list of "doing crime" talk during the champagne, i forgot what they are now.

That's an excellent illustration of the danger of having super-wealthy people around: they almost invariably presume that the law doesn't apply to them, because they've got attorney sot deal with all the little improprieties and even big ones. So when they get to positions of public responsibility they have no idea how to behave in accordance with the law.

People who grow up with wealth often never grow up. They don't have to, because the family wealth protects them from actual consequences of their behavior. They are de facto nobility, something the Constitution bans de jure -- but the de facto kind are just as dangerous to liberty as the de jure kind.

They say that power corrupts, and that's true. But it's also true that wealth is power, so it's a valid corollary to say that wealth corrupts. Trump is a splendid example of wealth corrupting.

Well that is one of the stupidest ways you could have made your point.

They are both simple truth...one is not the alternate truth.

What you are arguing is that there is some kind of pejorative to the news presented through the media. And that Alternate truth is somehow coloured by the filter of the media to put a more or less positive spin on the facts in order to influence the reader.

And maybe there is. People have always used media to filter events to suit the editorial policy and politics.

This notion that media should somehow be unbiased is ridiculous. It is the very fact of bias that results in investigative journalism.

And you can bypass media. And you can try to control it.

But in the digital age....that is increasingly difficult as even the merest event or utterance is now the focus of fact-checking and analysis by professional journalists and amateur bloggers alike.

Things were healthier back in the 1880s when every newspaper had a political lean and not only admitted but was proud of it. of course the difference was that newspapers were local entities, not just pieces of some giant media empire.

I seriously think it would be good for the country if no media companies could reach across state lines... at the least. Independent press means not just free of government, but free of anything resembling a monopoly. To that end, I'd like to see all media organizations confined to a single county or parish have a federal tax rate of zero, and the larger the reach of all others the higher the tax rate.

'The nights are getting shorter.' Alternate truth.

It all depends on what is presented to you and if you bother to examine it further. Today though, people just prefer to repeat what is told to them just to flow with the status quo.

That's not an "alternate truth", it's a restatement of the same fact from a differing perspective -- the equivalent to a coordinate system transformation in mathematics. In other words, you said the same thing twice.

That's right. Alternate truth = different perspective. Exactly right.

That's right. Alternate truth = different perspective. Exactly right.

When you've both given examples of astronomy there is clearly no 'alternate truth'. Fact is a word that doesn't have the same meaning as the word truth in this context. These facts about sunrise and sunset are just a collection of bulletin points. A perspective about a set of facts isn't the fact itself, either. And one fact doesn't negate the other by its mere existence. They're not battling, it's not a competition, there is no 'alternate truth'.

This is the worst part.

He just barks out lie after lie, secure in the fact that 50% of Americans can only digest 140 characters and will never bother to fact check.

Unfortunately we should know by now that lying only matters when Hillary or Obama apparently do it.

Ah, but you must know the difference. Hillary and Obama lie. Trump simply doesn't tell the truth... even when he's not talking.
