Trump wants to limit student loan borrowing

(actually, that might've been just bad wording and not one of the bad wordings when combined with the late hours, depends on when it was yet-again repeated. At one point in the agonizing over phrasing I typed 'increased by almost 300 percent' and replaced it with, well, what you put above. Can't win for losing.)

OK, assuming everything you guys say is right, are you in favor of keeping the system as is or if you want to see changes what would you like those changes to be?

Before we even start thinking about college tuition we need to work on the system that funds K-12. The current community based funding puts low income and minority children at an extreme disadvantage to begin with.

Sorry, guys. Between my new job, my new business, moving between states, and getting my house ready to sell, I simply don't have time to type out a meaningful response. I'm just not that immersed in this convo right now.

At my high school we had to take economics. There we learned about money, how to keep a check book, taxes, how to buy and sell stock, mutual funds and bonds, etc. It was required to take at least two classes of it.

Economics was an elective at my high school. The school was overcrowded because it was located in what, at the time, was the fastest growing county in the US. As a result of the overcrowding, students who would normally be relegated to the library for “study hall” time were situated in various classrooms that had extra chairs. I was lucky to be assigned to an econ class and the teacher allowed me to participate in discussions and even take the exams. I didn’t earn credit for the class, but I learned a lot just by being present. Having been thus introduced to econ somewhat unofficially, I was able to choose a different elective from the curriculum that I might otherwise have missed.

A post secondary education is not a right, it is a privilege that must be earned. Not everyone qualifies to go to college, whether they want to or not.

Post secondary education is a privilege in the United States of America. A privilege that is increasingly reserved for Caucasian elites. Public education is the great equalizer that levels the playing field so that poor children can have a shot. Secretary DeVos is Making Education Great Again [sic] by systematically dismantling the US public school system in favor of vouchers to subsidize for-profit private Christian schools and Charter schools. She is the first Secretary of Education who never attended a public school or university. She is a billionaire in her own right and married a billionaire. Her children did not attend a public school. All this to say that if you are in an impoverished area with overcrowded, underfunded and dangerous schools, your child does not have a chance at even useful education at any grade level. Middle class kids who want to go to good institutions of higher learning have to borrow to afford it. They end up in a soul crushing cycle of debt for possibly decades. POTUS wants to limit school loans. WTF? Why should anyone have to borrow money to go to school in the first place. Why doesn't he limit the need for that and allow a clear path for debt reduction and forgiveness for people who are buried in student debt? He is attacking the problem by disallowing any benefit to low- and middle-income families who want an education for their child. The education gap is coming to correlate to income inequality. The poor and their issue stay poor while the fair haired scions of the rich leverage all-expense-paid Ivy League educations to grow the cross generational wealth that flows to them. Presidents Obama and Trump pose a stark contrast in backgrounds. One working toward a dream and going to Harvard Law and the other, the heir to his father's fortune guaranteed the privilege of higher education from birth. We have no access to presidential school records. Why would we want to. But it appears Trump's minions have gone to unusual lengths conceal, hide and lose his school records. However, unlike any other POTUS in memory, we know for a fact that Donald J. Trump is smart. He told us. "I'm a smart guy." And a POTUS wouldn't lie, would he?

Just to be clear, when Democratic politicians are talking about tuition free college, they do mean tuition free public colleges...and I would think vocational and technical two year colleges as well.

A great education shouldn't just be had at the elite schools....everyone who can and will apply themselves deserves the opportunity for a very good education. We have too many prominent people going to elite schools.. learning should not be a privilege only the wealthy and connected avail themselves of.

[SNARK]Of course not, and hey he should know himself better than anybody else can, right? So anything he says about himself HAS to be true, because HE KNOWS.[/SNARK]

I heard that he was "like, really smart". So smart, in fact, that his father had to buy Donny's way into the best schools (he wasn't smart enough to get in on his own merits and 'smartness', apparently), and when buying his way in didn't work, Daddy Trump threatened to sue.

Unfortunately, we'll probably never know just how smart Trump really is. He ordered his grades 'hidden' and only one man knows where they are now... and he ain't talkin'.

Please provide your source of information on where the President's father has to buy his way into there schools and how he ordered his grades hidden. Otherwise, there are just baseless accusations.
Better?

Please provide your source of information on where the President … ordered his grades hidden.

The allegation that Trump ordered his grades to be kept secret was covered in recent hearings held by the House Oversight Committee.
