''It is a federal felony under Section 1324(1)(a)(iii) of the immigration laws (Title 8, U.S. Code) if a person

knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation""[.]

Well, here we go in Missouri: Bounty hunting illegal aliens. The “Missouri Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program” Among seven new immigration bills is this one from Senator David Gregory. This is how republicans fascists in Missouri think. Who knows if this will pass, but at this point, I wouldn't doubt it.

Here's a link to KMOV-TV story: ‘This is Nazi Germany stuff:’ Civil rights attorney reacts to MO’s proposed bounty hunter bill

A few quotes from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch article, which is probably paywalled, so I won't even post the link.
Once an "online portal" is set up to report "illegals", it would be easily expanded to report all the vulnerable people the fascists want to target. It would only be the beginning.

While the other immigration-related measures introduced in the first days of the Legislature’s early bill filing period are similar to proposals floated in previous years, Gregory’s bounty plan would create an online portal for people to make reports about alleged undocumented individuals in their communities.

“Any person who makes a report in which an illegal alien is arrested shall receive a reward of $1,000,” a summary of the legislation notes.

In addition, Gregory’s plan calls for the Department of Public Safety to develop the “Missouri Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program” which would certify applicants to be bounty hunters for the purpose of finding and detaining undocumented immigrants in the state. Any person with a license as a bail bond agent would be eligible to apply for the program.

The measure also would declare that an undocumented immigrant who knowingly entered Missouri and is physically present in the state when apprehended by a licensed bounty hunter or peace officer would be guilty of “the offense of trespass by an illegal alien.” That would bar them from receiving any public benefit, voting in any election, receiving a permit or license to drive, or ever becoming a legal resident of Missouri.

In about a month or so, this is going to potentially become one of the most explosive and divisive issues in the United States.

It could include concentration camps, extraordinary renditions to hostile sovereign countries and will apparently also go right to the heart of the 14th Amendment.

It will likely define how America and Americans perceive themselves and how they are perceived around the world.

On Sunday, Trump apparently tells his interviewer that he will deport entire families even if the children are US citizens.

‘Even Kids Who Are Here Legally?’ Trump Tells Welker ‘You Have To Get Them All Out’ — Will Deport Entire Families (Mediaite; December 8, 2024)

As one of the comments note, the Nazis started with the idea of deportation as well.
Then came slave labor and death camps.
It all came down to cost and efficiency.

Watch how quicky the Trumpists turn on anyone from Central and South America, whether they are citizens or not.

Meanwhile, some of the possible countries that TrumpCo. hoped to send planes full of refugees to in his illegal rendition scheme are pretty much saying no thanks.

Once there is no place to actually ship those rounded up, detainment centres are absolutely a possibility.

They did it in 2016 and the US has shown with WWII that it has no problem with mass concentration camps.

Remember that like the detainment centres set up by Trump when they separated families at the border, these will be operated by private contractors so there is a direct incentive to detain.

I predict that most Americans will be adaptable to thinking of them as anything but concentration camps, but when you hold people against their will in cages or camps with no ability for freedom of movement...they are what they are.

What was Gitmo but a concentration camp? As long as these hellholes are out of sight, even such voters as did once give a damn will soon forget about what goes on in their name.

Cubans have names for the different waves of Cuban immigrants who have come to the US from Cuba. For example, the prisoners and gang members that emigrated in 1980 are referred to as the "Marielitos". The Marielitos refer to the latest immigrants as "balseros". "Balsa" is the Spanish word for "raft".

I saw Spanish language interviews around the November election where immigrants from different waves of immigration were asked about Trump's mass deportation claims. The ones who crossed the border (or in the case of Cubans and Venezuelans, "dry footed") said, "Oh, they don't mean us. We're the good immigrants". They insisted that the ones who came after them were the criminals and Trump was only going to deport the criminals.

Here's an example of one of the interviews, but in English (interview starts around :50):

Trump, as usual, is now equivocating on the issue. But he's also empowering Stephen Miller and Tom Homan who want to deport anyone without status, all Dreamers, all TPS holders and their US citizen children and spouses.

Reminder to self: buy more popcorn. 🍿

Obviously, with the first 'mass' deportation attempts, there will be a flood of lawsuits, particularly around 14th Amendment issues. Again, so much of this is just sick theatrics..exploited by TrumpCo. to raise funds and to rile their base.

At the moment, with the guardrails that are in place, I doubt if TrumpCo. could even get to 10,000 detainees or families thrown out of the country.

But they can say they have. All they need is for MSM to cover the pain of 100 different families either torn apart or turfed by extraordinary rendition to get the visuals just right so that this can be broadcast everywhere and make the MAGAts think he has kep his word. They won't care about the truth, They will just send money.

I will say this: it's really disgusting how people who call themselves Christians have exploited a group of poor people for political reasons. They have really done some pretty disgusting stunts - like showing up at the border with Fox News cameras, putting barbed wire up on the river banks, putting floats in the middle of the river and deceiving immigrants into boarding buses under the guise of getting jobs at their destination.

About the only ones who have come out of this looking good is Catholic Charities and a few smaller churches in border towns. The rest seem to have never read any of the New Testament.

It just makes me think of how gay marriage was exploited by George W Bush and Karl Rove twenty years ago. But as the saying goes, "The cruelty is the point".

Let's not go crazy here. I mean "concentration camps"?
Let's just revisit this.

It is more or less out in the open. 'Soft tents' in 'detention camps' = concentration camps.

Donald Trump’s “border czar” Tom Homan plans to reinstate controversial family detention centers as part of the upcoming administration’s mass deportation efforts.

Some of these people could end up being held in these camps for an indefinite period, unless Trump finds a way to literally dump people in other countries through extraordinary rendition. This is a way to de-humanize people...to strip them of dignity and value. In six months, Americans will have no issue with rounding up people and putting them in these camps. And if disease breaks out, will have no compassion for adults or children. Let's see whether all the Catholic nuns who voted for Trump because of Roe v. Wade will have any compassion for the families caught up in what is already shaping up to be another crime against humanity like in the first term where thousands of children were stolen from their families and detained like animals.

Well a fenced in camp that you can’t leave and you’re being detained in is pretty much the definition of a concentration camp.

Trump is clearing up what he meant about a solution for children born here. The parents can either leave them here when they’re deported or take them out of the country with them. It will be their choice.

Also remember, der Trumpenführer promised to fix the "homeless problem" by building "tent cities" for them out in the desert, away from the urban cities. That's no different from concentration camps, either.
If this is not stopped, next will be the mentally ill, the disabled, elderly. Then other undesirables who don't conform. Just...like...Hitler.

"Arbeit Macht Frei" *%%*

But who is there to stop them? No one.

His buddies made millions with their privately operated detainment camps the forst time around.

Many of the 'brown' people detainees may be caught up in legal cases to prevent the deportation...so they could be held indefinitely while their cases are adjudicated.

And at the heart will be the challenge to the 14th amendment for the children...to abolish birthright citizenship (for brown people only of course. Rzznz will be exempted)

OK, but when people hear concentration camps they think gas chambers, the Holocaust, Hitler, death camps and so on. You can't possibly think we are heading in that direction.

The term "concentration camp" predates WWII. The British had used concentration camps in Africa in the latter part of the 19th century.

The US went down this path before, trying to use the term "internment camp" for what they did during WWII. The Nazis referred to theirs as "work camps". Stalin called them "Gulags". The Chinese call them "re-education centers".

In the end, it's all the same thing. Anytime you confine large groups of people under armed guard for political reasons, you're operating a concentration camp.

Actually, yes. I do think we think are heading in that direction.

The republican fascist party has been on a similar trajectory for quite some time. There are parallels everywhere. I've been saying it for years.
The fascist train cars are accelerating now, and they're openly telling us who they're planning who to put on them.
It may not be gas chambers with Zyklon B, it may not be identical, but unless something stops it, there will be something very parallel with the same ending.
I see nothing to stop it.

I suspect that it will be disease outbreaks. Hopefully all the brown people in the US that may be subject to seizure and detention have their vaccinations up to date.

Tell me why you think that TrumpCo. isn't headed in that direction.

He has already persistently dehumanized those he wants to deport. About 40% of Americans seem to agree.

The NAZI death camps didn't start out with gas chambers. They were supposed to be work camps and many war time industries were supplied with slave labour from them.

Arbeit Macht Frei.

What do you think that the homeless camps that Trump wanted to set up would have done with the detainees? Likely given them 'work' to do in exchange for room and board.
