The Border Patrol chief has been ousted from his role as “commander at large,” and will return to El Centro.

Gregory Bovino has been removed from his role as Border Patrol “commander at large” and will return to his former job in El Centro, California, where he is expected to retire soon, according to a DHS official and two people with knowledge of the change.

Bovino’s sudden demotion is the clearest sign yet that the Trump administration is reconsidering its most aggressive tactics after the killing Saturday of 37-year-old Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents under Bovino’s command.

Sending hotheaded, untrained ICE goons to harass residents of Minneapolis has backfired.

I am not convinced they were "untrained". I think they were trained - trained to do exactly what they are doing. Not only that, those "agents" were recruited and accepted into ICE because they are malignant, hateful, violent, immoral people who are willing follow orders and do it. None of this is accidental. Listen to what Miller has been saying for years. This is what Miller and Noam and Homan wanted to happen all along.

I am not convinced they were "untrained".

No one who is trained in gun safety 101 empties a firearm in a crowd of 7 people on a paved surface. It's a wonder no one else was killed. Their ears are probably still ringing.

I suspect that it was him swanning around like an SS officer and flagrant obstruction of justice that finally brought external pressure to bear on Trump to sacrifice him.

Something happened over the weekend where Congressional leaders and maybe some of the big money donors had enough and saw that this was going to cost them seats in Congress.

But remember... "Bovino is just the patsy - a noxious and odious fall guy.
Stephen Miller is the architect and prime mover of the whole thing. Everything they do is at his direction - often after his threats. As long as he runs policy in the WH, nothing will change no matter how many Bovinos come and go."

Something happened over the weekend where Congressional leaders and maybe some of the big money donors had enough and saw that this was going to cost them seats in Congress.

One really big faux pas was their attempt to steer the ship after hitting the first ICEberg of claiming that a disarmed ICE nurse who was face down on his knees was "brandishing a gun" and "a domestic terrorist looking for trouble".

The second ICEberg was Ka$h, ICE Barbie and Gestapo Greg showing up on the Sunday morning news shows trying to claim that there was no Second Amendment right to concealed carry and that people who show up at protests with a gun are asking to be executed by ICE.

Trump brought up the Second Amendment frequently in his 2016, 2020 and 2024 campaigns, alleging that Democrats want to take your guns. When the NRA has to put out a statement disagreeing with the Trump Administration on the right to carry, then you know that whoever put out the anti-Pretti talking points was going to take the fall.

With ICE camping out at the Stupid Bowl...looking for 'migrants'? attending and working in back of house food prep etc., TrumpCo. will likely manage to wreck yet another
major sports event.

He is boycotting because of Bad Bunny who he says he doesn't know but I suspect that after the reception he gets at sports events now, he doesn't want that playing on all the news channels as his polls plummet, particularly now after the murders in Minnesota.

I have to think though, that being forewarned that Trump himself has directed this operation...you would have to be a special kind of stupid or desperate to turn up at the Bowl arena any time the weeks before the game, during the gme or for the clean-up.

Now that someone got murdered and there's multiple videos from different angles showing ICE using excessive force that led to the murder, celebrities and politicians have decided to speak out.

Sen Thom Thillis [R-NC] and Lisa Murkowski [R-AK] both suggested that Noem needs to go. They voted "yes" on her confirmation.

Noem, for her part, is saying that she'd doing what Trump and Stephen Miller told her to do.

Miller is deflecting, responding, in effect, "Don't hang your shit on me".
