Isn't it just a fence now, all seems to have gone quiet on that front.

The WH says they will be pushing for wall funding in the upcoming budget and particularly the fight for DACA. Which raises an interesting question, is it worth it to Democrats to give in some wall funding in exchange for protecting the DACA folks?

Politics ultimately requires compromise.

I'm writing to my representatives and asking that they support the wall if and only if they can get Trump on the other side of it. If there is a god, he will bring back Trump as a Guatemalan child dying in the desert on a trek to work as a virtual slave in the US agricultural industry.

The wall should be opposed on every level. What a hateful thing to propose and the way he degrades our neighbors to the south makes me wonder who the fuck his mother was...Cruella Deville?

Let’s hope things change in November. If even one house changes majority it will curtail the orange crush. I’m afraid I’m losing long time friends who I just can’t talk to anymore. My neighbor was the republican town board member for years and I always supported him but this year I said no to him and now there are hard feelings. Two other long time friends are dotards and I’m having a hard time being civil to them...

The nation was already stridently divided, and Trump is the fruit of it. Yet, any ruler can choose to be better. He has instead sunken even lower than his campaign, and has degraded the Office of the President by making it a small thing, no more than a platform to snipe from and carp. Small men leave a legacy of shame.

Today he is threatening to kill DACA if he doesn’t get his wall....he’ll deport kids and divide families to get thr wall... I hate that prick more each day...

No, division, diversity, multiculturalism and the hodgepodge are the liberal democrat policy. One purpose of controlling immigration is to permit degree of national unity.

One Sunday last year our Pastor preached about what a terrible nation we are. Selfish, rude, mean, unkind etc.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_foreign_aid
In 2014 economic aid given to other nations was over 32 billion.

After the tongue lashing from our Pastor I shook his hand as we left and remarked "it's no wonder no one wants to come here."
He knew the comment was sarcastic.
We surely have our faults, no doubt about it. But, I am unaware of any purges or death camps with in our borders.

I have to think that what we have must be pretty good if some feel the need to build a wall to keep people from sneaking past our borders.

When I read about 'life' in north Korea, I have to be thankful for the life that I have had. I have to be thankful that I live in a nation where we can vote an elected leader out.

For the OP to suggest that we have to keep our people from fleeing is sad.
This country has survived every President and will be around when the current one leaves.

when I was on Mexico a few weeks ago the best tee shirt I saw was --"stay calm you are on the fun side of the wall"

until we get rid of this sicko ---that is so true

It is an old ploy, to attempt unification by demonizing the foreigner. The poison is the mistaken notion that Latin immigrants are taking resources unduly in contrast to what they contribute to the nation.

The debate about the illegality of immigration completely avoids the true issue of why do we have to make legal immigration so painful, expensive, protracted, and the privilege of the very few. We obviously depend on the "illegal" immigrants in multiple industries.

I've helped for men so far who were either working here illegally or were the children of illegal immigrants. All four were working their asses off for sub-par wages for the work. I took three of them in turn to see the U.S. Capitol to help engender a sense of greatness and pride in this country instead of the TV version. I have spent maybe twenty to twenty-five thousand on them. It has been my way of supporting the value I see in the immigrant who is a worker and deserves help.

If it were practical to encourage legal immigration, I would, but it isn't. The restrictions are unreasonable and ultimately represent selfishness and greed.

I believe in helping individuals. If we all did that, our neighborhoods would be stronger, the nation greater, and our mottos on our money, meaningful.
