Trying to eat a clean diet. Help

Sorry, but you guys make it sound so easy....

If I cook my meals, that means I have to spend a reasonable amount of money on food each week, each month.....

I don't have a job now, so I'm just depending on my savings to get by each day.

I can't afford to spend too much money just on food every week.

I don't really like cooking because you have to spend time preparing, cleaning, washing the food. After that, you have to clean up all the dirty plates, pots, forks and spoons.

And what happens if I get a job?

Does that mean I have to start eating unhealthy takeout and junk food from outside??

Have you tried just eating the skin off your arms?

It's not easy, but you have to start somewhere, deciding upon how much weight you need to lose and in what span of time will tell you what you calorie consumption per can should be.
Things like measuring cereal in the morning and using 2% milk in place of whole milk (they are the same price), using low calorie bread
in place of regular helps.
Again, check out the web sight that I mentioned, counting and keeping track of calories, along with some sort of exercise, such as a brisk walk will get you started.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step, I wish you luck.

Nothing worth doing is really all that easy.

No. As was mentioned previously your mother simply buys groceries instead of the "unhealthy take out" that you've been complaining about. As you aren't working, preparing dinner for the family can be your "job", your way to repay your parents for providing you, a grown man, with food. You don't spend any more than you are currently spending.

Waaaa...... I don't WANT to do any work....... Grow up and grow some ball you little bitch! You aren't working. Apparently your parents are still working, or maybe they've retired and are collecting pensions. In any rate they are providing a roof over your head and food for you to eat. You need to be responsible for at least something. You have more than enough time on your hands that you can prepare food and clean up..... Preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner, with everyone chipping in on cleanup, should cost you a total of 6 hours out of your day...... Surely you can pull yourself up off the floor for that length of time?

And what happens if I get a job? Does that mean I have to start eating unhealthy takeout and junk food from outside??
When you get a job you can then start working on providing for your own self. Sooner or later getting yourself an apartment of your own. At that point you'll have to cook for yourself anyway. And you'll be responsible for all the cleanup, not just the dishes, but the floors the bathroom, the dusting, everything! You might as well get started on training for that now by pitching in around your parents home. As for eating take out once you start working again...... Wjy would you have to go back? You could just continue cooking for yourself the groceries you purchase, putting the money you'll save over buying take out every meal into a savings account. A win-win situation.

But you have to actually WANT to improve your life. Your whining suggests two things to me at the moment..... 1) You don't really want to change things, just complain about them. Grow up you wuss! and 2) You should think about getting yourself checked out for depression because it seems you've allowed yourself to fall into a level of despair that is unhealthy.....

I try and buy organic as much as possible. Try buying as local as possible and only items that are in season.

Thank you for all your advices.

Sorry. I will make an effort to change and be better.

I will try.

But there's no way my family is going to eat my cooking. They would prefer to have takeout food.

So yeah, I'm going to cook for myself and clean all the dishes. Hope it works.

One of the problem with eating healthy food is that they're bland and tasteless. You're not supposed to add condiments to it.

But yeah, I don't have a choice. If you want to eat clean, you can't add ketchup/salt or any sauces to the food.

. . .

Oh for pity's sake, you want spoon feeding!

Recipe for Essex Boy's celebrated all-purpose sauce, as rustled up by students everywhere:
- Empty a tin of tomato pulp into a saucepan with some oil and heat it gently while raiding the fridge for anything that's near its use-by date (peppers, sweetcorn, celery, mushrooms, onions if you must);
- chop it all up small if necessary and tip it into the pan. Season to taste (a pinch of salt won't hurt). Stir until it looks edible;
- serve with whatever. And Bob's your uncle as we say round these parts.

Thanks. Really appreciate it. :-)

So I have been trying to eat rice with chickpeas for breakfast, lunch , dinner because it's rather easy to prepare.

You just wash the chickpeas and throw them into the pot with the rice before you add water and boil it.

Problem is I don't know how much chickpeas to throw into the pot. I don't know if I'm eating enough protein or too much protein based on the amount of chickpeas that I have put into the pot.

Is there a way to measure how much beans/chickpeas that you required for each meal??

Right now, I'm feeling very hungry even though I just had some rice/chickpeas for dinner.

How the fuck do you even put one foot in front of the other?

It is called Google.

Figure out how many calories you need in a day. Probably about 1800-2000 max is a guess...although you are trying to bulk up so maybe 2500-3000...if you are also working out to turn weight into muscle instead of fat.

Look at haw many calories are in a cup of Chickpeas. And a cup of cooked rice.

Eat more beans than rice.

Now. Go do the research. Learn something.

Oh. And being hungry is not a bad thing.

I assumed in Singapore, buying take away food is cheaper than cook it yourself.
Therefore, are there a lot of fat people in Singapore ?

Important question.

Since I am skinny, am I allowed to eat the chicken legs?? The chicken legs has a lot of fats and is more tender and more juicy.

I find that the lean meat ( chicken breast) is more hard, difficult to chew and not as juicy as other parts of the chicken ( chicken legs, chicken wings)

Also I need to have my daily intake of fats beside carbohydrate and proteins, so I guess maybe I should eat the fats from the meat ( chicken) ??

So should I stick to lean meat without any fats ( chicken breast ) or should I just eat any parts of the chicken that I wish ( chicken legs, chicken drumsticks ,chicken wings, buffalo wings even though they are filled with lots of fats) since I am skinny??

Fat generally has been de-demonised recently. Sugar is the thing that's going to kill us all. The usual advice with chicken is to keep the skin on during cooking so it won't get dry, but leave it on the side of the plate when eating.

So you're saying it's okay for me to eat any parts of the chicken including the fats but not the skin??

I am skinny and trying to build mass and muscle.

Should I just eat all parts of the chicken or just the lean meat only??

Eat the fat. Eat the skin. Eat the meat.

Do not eat anything that is hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated. Read the label! And don't change your diet all at once. Eliminate one thing at a time.
