I only ask since Britain is actually made up of 4 different countries (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) all of which have their own different regional accents.

Actually - Craig Charles is English - he has a Scouse accent.
Just to echo gaz1978's earlier sentiment - British and English aren't interchangable terms - Scots accents are British accents, as much as English. (sorry, I'm English and it's a massive pet-peeve).
