One of my properties have a big-ass bathroom that have two doors, one going into the master bedroom and one going into the hallway where the other bedrooms are. It does not make sense at all.

I have a lot of PTOs saved up, so I'm taking this week off work to turn this bathroom into two smaller ones, one for the master and one for the guest bedrooms.

Hope I will be able to finish this week (doubtful lol). Wish me luck.

Are they going to be two full baths?

Yes. Based on the layout, I'm convinced it was originally designed for 2 full bathrooms. Someone at some point turned it into 1 big one.

Two bathrooms are better than one and will only increase the value of the property IF they are not too small for comfort.

I'm lucky enough to have a brother and nephews in the remodeling and construction business. Good luck :)

built a few houses --not sure if this is an upscale home but if it is---as long as you can fit a double sink in the master bedroom should be ok---

I'll wait til i see the finished results.

Nah, not upscale. Just typical middle class house in a middle class neighborhood subdivision built in the mid-90s.

The master bathroom will not have a double vanity. Why? Because I have sectioned off a piece of that space to put a laundry room upstairs. My partner and I figured for this particular type of house an upstairs laundry room will make the house worth more than a master bathroom with double vanity. It is much better than it being in the basement.

I agree, the laundry room should be on the main floor. The days for basement ones should be over. The laundry is separate from the bathroom, right?

Yes. I built a wall and sectioned it off from the main bathroom. So it is accessed from the hallway. So, this bigass bathroom will be divided up into two bathrooms and a laundry closet.

I have an aunt that is know it all. When she visited us, she insisted that we leave the laundry in the basement and make the master bathroom huge because "everybody likes big bathrooms".

To us, it is more of a pain in the ass to carry laundry down 2 floors to do laundry.

One of the first things I had done in this house was promote the laundry to the main floor off the master suite. It had been in the garage downstairs for 30 years.
