  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

tv is a wasteland

The thing to do is watch the dumbest shit you can find.

....So is the internet. LOL....I sometimes spend hours in front of it watching ...nothing important.....same old same old.....

We really need to learn to turn off these things and go outside now and then, huh? ;)

Hundreds of channels and nothing to watch....

Well, that's what it seems like sometimes.

I don't know why, but when we had only four channels in Rochester (NBC, ABC, PBS, and CBS) it seemed like there was always something on to see!

Thank goodness for DVDs...

I love my movies, and classic TV shows.

I never converted to digital when the US went digital last year, haven't missed it with movies, books and internet.

I have a dvr, so I just pick out my shows and watch them when ever I want. I like tv but I hate having to remember what show is on at what time.

I watch what I want on my schedule that way. DVR or Tivo is the only way to go.... and you get to fast forward through commercials.

Good to hear! Went off TV last year and haven't looked back. Watching my True Blood on the internet so life is good. :)

Yes, it is getting horrible...

Day time TV is probably the worst, given the numerous 'Judge ______" shows and soap operas...

But prime-time and late night aren't better...

"On Demand" helps a lot, but even with that and 10 HBO's and a bazillion channels there's STILL nothing to watch.

It's kind of sad when cooking shows on The Food Network are the most interesting thing on TV.

It's the time of year, too. 4th of July through Labor Day is just a vast wasteland.

Digital television with over 600 channels, HBO, Cinemax & Showtime @ $120 a month (including high speed cable modem) and I never have the television on. A waste except for Match Game '73.

you gotta remember who these people are watching daytime tv. stay at home moms, old people, etc. that why the shows are so crappy.

Alternate between Latino soap operas and porn.

i don't 'watch' TV much lately, cuz I'm on the computer - but I listen to it in the background. I can always find something to watch -- except Golf !! (or most organized sports).
Animal Planet - reruns of Everybody Loves Chris -- Kate + 8 -- sumthin'...................

That's what I do. I just have it on in case something interesting comes on while I'm on the computer. Of course, if I had one of the expensive packages, I'm sure I could find a decent movie or one of the good music channels on there.
