Yep. Happens ALL the time. Though I think "making it up" is a stretch.
There seems to be an air condescension in your post (that I do not appreciate) implying that one shouldn't speculate and/or have opinions about a case in the early stages.
Even though many of us here call bullshit at the way the case is being handled, several of us have stated that we'll watch things play out and see what develops. So, I don't understand your snarkiness at this point. You almost come across unnecessarily bothered by our commentary...as if the perps are family members of yours.
Forgive us for being outraged and disgusted by this case.
Also, I am sure I have seen you walk the line of "trial by internet" in other cases presented to this forum before. Why target this one so relentlessly?
His objections to rushing to conclusions are selective. It pretty much kicks in when he seems to identify or sympathize in some way with the perpetrator(s) of an event which is basically indefensible-- a gay hate crime, the slaying of an unarmed black teenager, etc. So he plays this "voice of objectivity" game as a way to defend the perp in question without actually committing himself to trying to defend what was done.
It doesn't kick in in cases involving people belonging to groups he's happy to stigmatize-- such as the uneducated, the poor, etc. Those people are fair game to leap to summary judgment on and he does so with his usual long-winded sanctimoniousness.
