I'm taking the train to Seattle for a couple of days next week, I have my own things I like to do and see there, but I would love some random ideas. What would you do with two free days in Seattle, if you live there or on the other side of the planet?

I am from Portland too and love taking Amtrak to Seattle. It's such a relaxing trip. Have fun!

It seems like everytime I watch the Travel channel they always have the most outrageous places to eat. Beth's Cafe in Seattle has a 12 egg omlette, with chili, sour cream, and four slices of cheese. It's served on a pizza pan with hashbrowns and two slices of toast. I have never eaten it, but if you do, let me know how it went. It looks like they have a real odd collection of people that eat and work there.

I could spend days at Pike Place Market. There's things from almost everywhere there. Endless delight.

And, of course, the Space Needle ... the docks ... other such touristy kinds of things.

Aside from that type of thing, I'd do something kinda unusual: explore neighborhoods. Seattle's very neighborhoody, with a wide variety of interesting neighborhoods. But then, I kinda like doing oddball things...

Go visit the nice bars and restaurants in Fremont, see the troll there.

Get crunk at the gay bars in Capitol Hill.

Take a ferry from downtown to West Seattle and explore Alki Beach.

Visit the Seattle Art Museum and then do the Needle.

If you do the Pike Place Market thing and find yourself hungry, there's a *fabulous* little restaurant called "Pigalle" toward the back side of the place on the water...

Incredible mussels and other seafood if you are into that sort of thing...

I forgot: the Experience Music Project! The building was designed by Frank Gehry, and it showcases Seattle's famous contributions to music -- Hendrix, grunge, indy rock -- it goes on and on.

Good suggestions, can't wait...don't forget coffee, Vivace and Bauhaus and Monorail Espresso with all the bike messengers :-)

if i were going it would be for an event at the seattle center like bumpershoot. or id try checking out one of the downtown theaters or capitol hill.

and i wouldnt do the space needle, its 17$ and not worth it.
