1. Threads disappearing when I've just spent 20 minutes composing an on-topic and totally civil reply, at some effort because some of the people in the thread were so offensive.

2. Thoroughly and willfully dislikeable people complaining that no one likes them, or even that some ONE doesn't.

Please note, the thread I was about to post to was deleted by the mods for the very good reason that it was a post of the kind in my item 2, so actually there's a third thing:*

3. When something annoys me but I can't even really complain about it because it was entirely right and proper that it happen.

</rant>
___
*"Fear and surprise! Surprise and fear! There is No. Third. Thing."
"Uh, what about a fanatical, uh, devotion--"
"Shut Up Shut Up Shut Up!"

I wrote a very quick reply, then realized I was being too nasty, revised it, realized I wasn't saying what I was trying to say, revised it again, and it was too nasty.

Went back and forth like that for a while before I was satisfied that the latest iteration passed muster both for conveying my thought and for civility, clicked Preview, and was told I didn't have sufficient access rights to that page (which is what us owedinawwy fowkes get when we try to post to a deleted thread).

QUESTIONS:

1. Do you feel better now that you've expressed your dis-sassy-faction with most things jub?

2. Just what are WE supposed to comment on in this ridiculous thread?

Not dissatisfied with most things JUB at all. Where did you get that idea? Thread deletion is rare, and so are rotten people whining about how no one loves them. This was just an OH SHIT comment about both of them happening at once in a way that annoyed me. This time. Once.

And I already said I feel better.

And if you think my thread is ridiculous, you're really under no obligation at all to comment on it; if you do, and you're within the TOS (or whatever they call it here), say anything you like.

I would like to point out that this is hardly the most ridiculous thread on JUB, but I guess that's my opinion.

being transparent is a good thing. the president of the Un-tied States of Amerika has said so, thus you are only being politically correct...a little whiney but politically correct. amazing how whine and politics are two terms that just seem to stand together

The trouble with being transparent is that if you're COMPLETELY transparent, you can't see anything. Transparent retinas, you know. Also you cast no shadow, and people might decide to burn you at the stake. OTOH it might be pretty hard for them to find you, especially in dim light. I know I'm always knocking glass things over in the dark. Why don't I just turn on a damn light? I keep asking myself this, but get no answers.

I mean, who would answer, right?

What was the thread about?

I quote the great philosopher Hobbes: "No, no, I've said too much already." :D

Seriously, the mods deleted that thread for a reason, and in this case describing the content (in more detail than already given above) would be tantamount to starting another thread WITH the same content, and I don't want to do that here.

There's always PM *hint* *hint*....

I've fallen into that trap a few times myself. Compose a carefully worded response to add something meaningful, then find the thread whipped away, for good reason.

It's frustrating, but like you said, rare enough that you just have to go with the flow.

(And recognize it's almost a given that with some members' threads, the threat of editing and/or removing it is rather high) :)

THANK you. I appreciate it. I was beginning to think I was just crazy.
