Typical Christian Wingnut

should be executed for killing dogs?

What meat did Tucker eat? He should be executed a long time ago for eating living things.

Tucker Carlson is an idiot, like all of the right wing.

And what right winger would believe President Obama would do anything correct anyway? What would really be news if a right wing Republican agrees with the President and compliments him. It's just more of the same shit dripping out of the Fox Propaganda channel's rectum.

If President Obama created a cure for cancer, they would condemn him because it wasn't strawberry flavored. Everything he does the righties whine, piss and moan.

Vick sinned against God and the individual animals, not anyone else. It isn't up to any of us to forgive him or not. The man should have served more jail time, but since he served his time, he has a right to try and get a job and continue living. I don't like him, and I'd have nothing to do with him, he's obviously a psychopath, and people should always be wary of him. Stigma should and will be a problem for him. For Obama to stick his nose in is totally inappropriate, and shows how amateurish he is regarding the presidency, lowering himself to such frivolities. The president has much more important things to do.

Yup. The Republican Cult demands that all righteous Fox Newies hate President Obama, not just disagree with him, but hate him. It's a classic cult manifestation. By getting people to hate something, they shut their brains off, and just mouth empty rhetoric.... you know, just like homophobia. It's tragic so many of our gay brothers haven't escaped the Republican Cult.

Let's be clear about this.

President Obama was not opining on Michael Vick. The president was not sharing his opinions.

This was a private conversation with Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeff Lurie about the fact that Lincoln Financial Field uses alternative energy sources, something the president supports. The subject of Vick happened to come up. The president happens to believe that felons who have served their time deserve the opportunity to become productive members of society. He expressed that sentiment to Jeff Lurie. Jeff Lurie was so pleased with himself that he chose to make a private conversation public.

We don't care if you don't "give a shit what pres. obama thinks." The president was not expressing his opinions to you. If you are uncomfortable knowing what the president says to Jeff Lurie, then you should complain about Jeff Lurie, not President Obama.

I'm not condoning either one of these BUT:

Which is worse, Michael Vick and dog-fighting or former Governor of Alaska Princess Sara shooting wolves from a helicopter? Do I smell a double standard here? :help:

I'm not a big fan of hunting from a chopper. Even less of a fan of hunting something you aren't going to eat. But it isn't what Vick did. You can't be serious with this comparison.

In some Asian countries, dogs are on the menu.

Meanwhile, back to the topic, last night I heard a comment about Michael Vick on a sports talk show in town, generally conservative. The host said that he gets suspicious of anyone who prefixes a comment with "I'm Christian."

Tucker Carlson's just another lousy neo-nazi prick who is taking advantage of persons of genuine faith. That is, not unless you consider National Socialism a religion.

While I'm sure Chance is quite capable of defending himself, I would like to express my opinion in regards to what you said since by your use of the word "we", you, by default included me in your response.

The President did share his opinion. Simple fact. He shared it, according to your comments, to an individual in private. If that individual makes that conversation "public", then it is the President who has a legitimate complaint about Jeff Lurie. No one else.

The president did not "insist on sharing this kind of info."

If you guys are so uncomfortable hearing what other people say the president says, turn off your TVs, radios, and internet. And don't read any magazines or newspapers or books. Presidents are always in the news. You are going to hear things about them, occasionally. President Obama is not trying to cram his opinions down your throat, as you imply. He isn't forcing you to listen to his private thoughts.

I can find all sort of serious problems with this president about which I can complain, and I do. But you guys seem to struggle valiantly in a bizarre effort to find the most inappropriately inconsequential objections you can come up with.

OMG! THE PRESIDENT TOLD SOMEBODY MICHAEL VICK DESERVES A CHANCE TO REHABILITATE HIMSELF, AND THE PRESIDENT FORCED ME TO HEAR IT!!!!!

For eight years, I was pretty fed up hearing GWB telling the nation how despicable I am. How I deserve no rights. How I should not be allowed to serve in the military. How God hates me. How I should never be allowed to marry. How straight people needed to be protected from me. I heard nothing but a torrent of hate speech from that president which was directed at me! I complained vehemently about his bigotry, which remains among the most despicable campaigns of intolerance and hatred ever fomented by any president, ever! But I never complained that I was forced to listen to him hating on me.

And you guys complain that you are "forced" to learn (even secondhand!) that this president has compassionate private opinions about life.

Dogs are a subspecies of wolf.

There is no difference between killing a dog and a wolf - they are the same species!

Since Tucker Carlson values canine life above humans, you would think he would be calling for Sarah Palin's execution.

Well, i'm not a christian, a wingnut, nor were I an american would I be a republican (though living in alberta we basically have that here...)...

And I don't think Michael Vick should get some slack, I do value the life of any dog over his, and I don't think he should be entitled to any forgiveness, christian or otherwise.

It is one thing to repay your debt to the state according to what the law prescribes, but there is still the matter of his social standing, about which the law says nothing. Nothing - coincidentally, about what I think his social standing should be.

^ In other words, a president should never express opinions about anything, to anyone.

That would be a very weird presidency, indeed!

For that, the second passage you cited is superb, since it reduces to "don't mix what is Caesar's with what is God's, or vice versa". And there, you've got a huge legitimate gripe with the Republicans.

Yup. But as the link I quoted showed, Jesus neither ran for an office nor told his followers to ascribe to any governmental position. After all, Jesus' kingdom is not of the Earthly world so therefore why would any Christian run for physical office, while invoking what Jesus would want. What Jesus would want is you Congressman to resign, and go preach the gospel and forsake your riches. Yeah... that won't be happening soon. (Again, Jesus didn't condemn government leaders, but rather as Kuli pointed out, the mixing of the two.)

Let's see....

Shooting wolves is legal, a part of scientific wildlife management, done with a license from the authorities.

Dog-fighting is illegal, serves no societal purpose, and requires people to hide from the authorities.

Disagree with the policy if you will, but Palin was engaged in an activity the state of Alaska had deemed beneficial to the ecosystem. Vick was engaged in an activity beneficial only to his pocketbook.

Palin was helping keep the ecosystem balanced because of the damage humans have inflicted on it. Vick was just inflicting damage.

Palin was engaged in an activity where it's a high source of pride to kill with one shot -- and a good shot can drop an animal without it having time to suffer. Vick was engaged in an activity where the whole point is to make the animals suffer.

No double standard at all.

Running for office and holding it can be a way to preach the Gospel -- if done in a Gospel fashion, i.e. in such a way as to show love to all people.

As it says elsewhere: love is not proud, it does not seek its own way..... love does not try to lord it over others. Not many "Christian" politicians these days get a good report card at all.

A few things to point out.

Whaling is legal in various instances, therefore you are ok with it and support it?

As far as "no societal purpose", do you feel the same way about boxing, ultimate fighting, kick boxing, and other similarly violent sports? Additionally, these bouts are used for gambling. Do you feel gambling serves no societal purpose, and are you opposed to gambling / gaming / casinos?

Starting to grasp the slippery slope you're skidding down?

What's "animal cruelty" in the western world seems to be in direct proportion how soft and cuddly or cute any given animal / insect / fish / etc... seems to be.

Not what I said...re-read...keep his personal views to those in whom he can confide. to prevent possible political suicide.

There is, of course, no one in whom a president may confide, without a reasonable probability of the confidence being violated. That may, in fact, be exactly what happened in the case of Jeff Lurie.

So, a president (in your view), should never express opinions to anyone, about anything.

What a strange presidency that would be!

You of all people should know better than to use a Non Causa Pro Causa slippery slope argument, considering that they're used against LGBT people in every argument against gay marriage. What you're arguing is a fallacy, plain and simple.
