Yes, yes it is. you would think we would learn, but no. I dont see why we picked saudi arabia, its terrible country with terrible laws and goverment. Why not sell to israel the only country in the middle east that has capitalism. Just dont understand the logic behind this.

Just waiting for you to explain how this is fault of the Tea Party, Republicans, Bush, or anyone else that you are upset with at this moment.

i just don't think it is a good idea. I lost a good friend due to the iraq mess and I am living with and helping take care of a couple of kids whose dad is in afghanistan as a scout in the Army.

I just don't think the region needs more weapons. They are notoriously loose in that region. the nations bartering weapons back and forth.

Anyone, Hammas even, could get hold of that vollume of a weapons.

Thats ALOT of stuff

F-15's and 200 attack helicopters.

Its seems counterproductive to the war effort. I understand that the USA needs cash right now, but this is no way to raise the rent money.

Greed.
Oil addiction.
Religious fanaticism, i.e. mentally ill, nations.

= Trifecta From Hell.

I just read a while ago that Saudi Arabia allowed the IDF to fly through its airspace so they could set their detection equipment to not shoot them down.

Now, what could the Saudis and the Israelis possibly be doing except a practice run on Iran.

the USA produce useless war technology again.
Why don't they produce useful stuff for everyday people ?

For its own defense i understand but for export is just wrong.

didn't even occur to me to think of that.

How exactly can Hamas or any other terrorist operate mulit-million fighter aircraft and attack helicopters?

Of course it is. The US peddles its weapons around the globe, only to have our young men & women die when our "friends" become our "enemies". It boils my blood when this shit happens. I've never understood why we allow a single weapon to be sold outside of NATO.

Most of our arms sales in that region are an attempt to keep things balanced and somewhat friendly.

But this isn't really how we wound up having to fight a war in Afghanistan; that happened because after we became "friends", once we'd gotten what we wanted we walked out and abandoned them. If we'd stayed friendly, helped them with schools and roads -- if nothing else, a steady program of helping rebuild all the stuff the Soviets blew up -- there wouldn't have been an Al Qaeda... or a 9/11.

And we never had to fight a war in Iraq... that was Cheney's idea and Bush was more than happy to play cowboy.

Possibly -- maybe even probably. But they and many other countries there share a deep common interest in keeping Iran from having The Bomb.

Glad you asked that -- now I don't have to. :D

Exporting weapons to kill people is never a positive thing; however, not a single F-15 or helicopter from this deal is going to kill any of our troops.

This set me to wondering if they implemented something once proposed by a U.S. Senator whose name I'm blanking on: add in a circuit to allow U.S. forces to just shut the thing down if it's used against us.

I know the technical difficulties (not least of which is what if their enemies figure out the signal), but with some of the freakozoids Bush stacked the deck with.....

15 of the 19 hijackers from 9-11 were from Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia is one of the strictest and most oppressive Islamic nations, still performing public stoning and beheadings. Homosexuality is punishable by death. It has a woeful human rights record, with enormous poverty and division of wealth.

This is the nation the US chooses to arm?

^ It has long been proven that the United States is queer for oil when it comes to Saudi Arabia. You just have to accept this kind of blatant hypocrisy.

Hate to break it to alot of you guys but what makes you think Austrailia, UK, Germany, France, or EU members wouldn't make deals for more oil? No way in the hell we are the only ones with an addiction problem, its a world addiction problem.

Right -- they just let us do the dirty work for them. Or, on a different front, make nice to the oppressive regime in Russia.
