U.S. Christian pastor wants an Athiest registry

I'm amazed he didn't go after gays first.

I mean, them dastardly gays wanna be adopting them babies, amirite?

But wow, of all the things I thought I could be compared to, I never thought I'd see the day where i'd be compared to a member of the KKK...

Which is funny when you think about it because the KKK is a christian organization... oh the irony...

FTA : Pastor Mike compares atheists to “convicted sex offenders , ex-convicts , terrorist cells , hate groups like the KKK , skinheads , radical Islamists , etc..”

I'm sorry, what have Atheists done again? I don't remember reading a story where an Atheist blew up a building because of his...non-religious beliefs.

This guy is an asshole and he should be extinguished. Oh yeah, I went there.

He's another nutcase looking for attention. As others have said, he needs to be on some kind of registry.

Well I do think that we must have a realistic assessment of the threat here . However repulsive and threatening these statements are , I doubt that there is one person here who thinks there is the slightest chance of anything like this happening at all . The utterances of one lunatic cannot be held to be representative of anything but a small and powerless minority . Every JUB member , atheist or not , is liable to execution in Saudi Arabia and some other countries now and jail terms in many countries NOW for what you did yesterday and intend to do tomorrow . No JUB member can honestly go to Saudi Arabia , ostensibly an "ally" . If the emphatically borderline is an issue here , I would suggest being decapitated with a sword is rather more of an issue .

No.

It really isn't.

Citizens of the US are free not to have to travel in some backwards medieval country.

And your implication that homos are getting executed right and left in downtown mecca is perhaps a little exaggerated. And the Saudi's don't keep a list of homos.

The subject of this thread, this nuttier than squirrel shit 'christian' pastor is proposing something that, under the right circumstances, would find favour in the US, particularly the south.

Remember the McCarthy era blacklists?

Why the Americans don't wake up to the fact that the religious right are all the same, no matter who their smiteful God is.

Well - Australia just finished its most recent census so I assume there's a register of sorts, somewhere - it's just not public information.

i will sign up for the registry, and then i will make a youtube video of me burning books and pamphlets that they feel like sending...

I always thought that having an imaginary friend, believing everything you read in a single book, hearing voices and seeing things would be enough to get you sectioned - or at least closely monitored. Guess crazy is the new normal.

WOW!
The inquisition is back...! There are reasons Spain became a declining power....but thats a history lesson he probably didn't read to well.

'violence that "good Christians" might perpetrate' ...

Fairly sure that's a contradiction. Sadly it seems there are a lot of these particular contradictions out there.

I have no particular problem with atheists, other than the fact that the few I've met have all been rude, snobby know-it-alls. Apparently, the fact that they don't believe in God makes them intellectually superior to everyone who does (ironic, considering one of them was a complete moron). But I am sure there are plenty of perfectly humble and likeable atheists out there and comparing them to child molesters and terrorists is absolutely ridonkulous.

George Carlin who is in heaven will fuck with these guys heads when they get there

Apparently, in the US-of-A you can't get elected to high office unless you at least pretend to believe in those things.

I wish I had read this earlier, because this is exactly the type of thing I was talking about. I have yet to meet an atheist who didn't talk like this. I no longer practice any religion, but I don't identify as atheist, nor to I feel the need to make personal attacks on people just because they believe in God.
