U.S./Israel financial relations....

No we dont owe them squat. I would imagine that if we were to remove our AID programs and let the world care for itself then we could put a huge dent in our deficit. Maybe shore up some shitty home loans....who knows.

Not that we should ever do it but it would be an interesting comparison.

What we owe vs. what we give away for free.

Well that and having your military hardware proven in combat without loss of your troops or capital investments.

Oh I don't argue that it is not worthwhile and I certainly do not advocate that we stop. Hence the words:

Not that we should ever do it but it would be an interesting comparison.

I simply wonder the actual numbers. I could not find a source so I ask. I think the biggest piece of our GDP pie is the military. But I would still love to see a comparison.

Oh see it happens every once in a while. An audible click. you know when I realize my mistake.

I meant how our taxes are divided up not our GDP.

That puts it into a different perspective.

I got all of that from these kind folks at Warresisters

I hoped you would get a kick outta that site. I can somewhat see their point of view.

I think they may also look at tax dollar allocation because that speaks much more directly to the taxpayer.

Funny thing. They don't seem to inclue AID that is specifically designed for a military use.

Can anyone give me a credible article/stats or link about U.S. Israel relations, pertaining to aid we give them.

Specifically financial aid between the two countries.....

Do they owe us?

Do we owe them?

Are we in debt with Israel? Or do we give them aid,and they owe us?

Any kind of help or link would be appreciated....thanks guys...

We give Israel about $2.4 billion in aid per year. We used to give them part of the aid as a budget supplement part of it in military subsidies, but it's easier just to make it military aid because the aid is spent to purchase military equipment and supplies from the US. In effect, the US dual purposes aid to Israel as a sort of defense subsidy.

This page has a nice and neat chart:

But you sound like you're doing a paper or something, so here are a bunch of numbers for you to wade through on your own if you're so inclined:

It's all easy to find stuff. The US spends a few billion every year on Israel to keep anyone in the region from wanting to attack them, and then it splits a similar amount between Egypt and Jordan to modernize their militaries and encourage them to be good neighbors to Israel. We've spent very little on military aid elsewhere up until very recently. Now Pakistan, Afghanistan, and, of course, Iraq, are picking up some significant change.

From 2000-2005 we gave at least 62.5 billion dollars in aid.

There are loans, grants and other crap too and 2006-2008 was a huge period of money for Israel.

Go search Occupation 101 on youtube, it's an amazing documentary from a Jewish/Christian perspective that is critical of Israel.

^^ I knew that Israel is the #1 recepient of our foreign aid but I did not realize it was that much:eek:

And then complaint about Iran and Syria supporting and funding terrorists but we give so much to one of the worst terrorist states on the planet!

You gonna get a lot of shit for saying that. Just remember, we don't necessarily hate "terrorists" or "terrorism", both are fine as long as its in our own interests or if done by our allies. Both become problems when they don't terrorise on our behalf. Just look at the historical relationships between the US and many many dictatorial and tyrannical governments around the world. Its pretty sad.
