Is anyone else getting really sick of hearing everyone use Uf now? The local anchors on the news are doing it during bad stories.
For anyone that hasn’t heard it, it may be a regional phrase though I just hear it in a national commercial.
Uf" is an interjection, commonly used to express a range of emotions like disgust, tiredness, relief, or exasperation, similar to "ugh," "phew," or "oh no". It's often found in informal speech and can be a shortened form of "uffda," a Norwegian expression used in the US Midwest. The specific meaning of "uf" depends on the context and tone in which it's used.
I think it makes the speaker sound stupid.
