ufos in art thruout history--real?

There are many photographs that allegedly prove, that there are fairies at the bottom of the garden. That fairies are a fact of life for many people, should encourage us to believe that not all that appears as a fairy is all that it appears to be.

Speaking for myself, I am one of those fairies who has never been photographed at the bottom of any one's garden and it is highly likely that my view of UFOs is as valid as is the view of those people who view me as a fairy. :D

Interesting site - but many aspects of art are figurative, surreal and interpretive - viewing spaceships must be said to be a personal interpreation (although not entirely invalid) - the following figures of Valcamonican rock art have been labelled 'astronauts' by wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ancientastronauts.jpg

the date given, obviously by some UFO enthusiast, declares that these two figures were made in 10,000 BC. In actual fact they were made in the Iron Age and do not represent aliens, but rather a shamanic ritual involving head gear, dance and display.

People will see what they want to see.

I agree about the fact that these photos are open to interpretation. Even I thought many of them could have easily been something else. I guess my main question is if anyone belives in ufos. I personally think that if we really have been visited--as often as people think we have---there would be more proof. More than just the grainy video and pics that are going around the net. And don't give me "the government is keeping it secret" shit; there are TOO many people working in the government for ALL of them to keep their mouths shut. But I DO belive we are not the only race in the universe and that a FEW of the sightings trouout history are probably real.

Agreed, plus (and I'm being real geeky here) if inter-stella travel has occurred i believe its far more likely to be along the lines of 'Stargate' i.e. a network of wormholes rather than 'ships'.

In the Middle Ages, just like now, there are many unexplained things in the sky. Trying to portray these things in art is a matter of interpretation on the part of the artist. The artist paints what he thinks he saw whether or not the UFO has a rational explanation. Just like today, not every UFO can be explained. There are too many reports for it to just be someone's imagination. What these UFO's actually are, I do not know.

Now how did i know you'd turn up in this thread? :p

Yeah, ok I admit it - I made them! A six-pack and a small tin of paint i stole from Alfonzo the grocer - still kept me out of trouble for a while.

hats, clouds, meteorites, stylised depictions of the Sun, Moon, stars, dreams of being able to fly, joyriding God(s), angels, saints or any number of other things imaginable by the mind of man. E.T.? I think not. IMHO.

In response to the original question asked by JOHNLKSGUYS, Nominus said it all:

People will see what they want to see.

When Erich von Däniken came out with his book in 1968, Chariots of the Gods?: Unsolved Mysteries of the Past, it was all the rage, and people all over the world who read the book were convinced that we had been visited by other-worldly astronauts. There was evidence of it everywhere.

I suppose there are a few people around today who still believe him.

I've seen a UFO.....this is going back a few years now but the person in the car with me saw it as well. It never moved for ages then all of a sudden it just flew across the sky. Very strange, lol.

It was also reported in the paper a couple of days later and had apparently been seen by a lot of people!

Lemme guess...a small blue box with a flashing light atop of it?

Hey. If he wants to travel through the galaxy inside Stella, who are we to judge, eh?

I'm sure there are UFOs, I'm not sure if they're from another planet or not, but if I had to bet money on it I would say that they were. And I hope they're friendly.

I'm sure, if they weren't, we would know about it by now.

Thanks a million for the cool internet site JOHNLKSGUYS.........I think that there's intelligenent life throughout the observable, unobservable, finite & infinite universe ..................................

A definate YES from me ... I once was associated with a Colonel from Wright Patterson who worked with Project Blue Book ... and ..the stories I heard made me keep an eye to the sky everytime I drove/drive a lonely road ...
I'm also a firm believer of the stories about Area 51 ....
How about the mysterious Crop Circles , Cattle Multilations etc ...
Ya' know folks .. these stories just don't get started from Nothing ... there HAS to be a reason the stories get started .. and ..CONTINUE ...

Cool KennyD................Project Blue Book is a Thread unto itself..........

Project Blue Book
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Project Blue Book was one of a series of systematic studies of Unidentified flying objects (UFOs) conducted by the United States Air Force. Started in 1952, it was the second revival of such a study. A termination order was given for the study in December 1969, and all activity under its auspices ceased in January 1970...By the time Project Blue Book ended, it had collected 12,618 UFO reports, and concluded that most them were misidentifications of natural phenomena (clouds, stars, et cetera) or conventional aircraft. A few were considered hoaxes. 701 of the reports—about six percent—were classified as unknown."

I am tired and going to sleep now.................Peace out for now....Good night all............Yuki :gogirl:

I'm sure UFO's exist, though I doubt they've visited here or done any of the things that peopel claim they've done or that any of the alleged photos of them are real.
