Attention Uganda is still at it. Please Help

This will be HERESY but why not let these people kill each other in whatever imaginative purges they create. Every day the aborigines come up with new horrors - about which we condemn ourselves for being unable to stop. Let them have Rwanda, Sudan, AIDS, Boko Haram and tribal brutalities.

Any effort at remediation is a tear in the ocean.

I will not be answering the phone.

I agree. The world can condemn these acts with all available outrage, but it won't stop. Someone has to bare the blame for lifes inequalities.

In this case it is the fundamentalist 'missionaries' from the US who have helped create this state of affairs in Uganda and have assisted in creating the problems in some of the other countries as well..

If we let them shoot the missionaries and all the ex-colonial and neo-colonialists along with each other, then I'm good with that.

Missionaries are largely irrelevant to the bloodbath that is Africa. Billions have been poured into that black hole, and the only color streaming out is that of blood. Quarantine the continent and see if it can rise above the opening scene of "2001." White man's burden - the underlying guilt of all rehabilitative efforts - is not productive.

Sodomy leads to hell

If they practiced more sodomy they wouldn't have the population problems. They're condemning their own salvation.

Yes but they may be having sanitation problems. I wouldn't be practicing sodomy if I had to ask someone to walk half a mile to the nearest stream in the desert to get a pot of water to wash themselves.

Wow Palb, that's a quotable metaphor!

We must thank the OP for exposing the naked evil of this act.

How else can we condemn this evil apart from signing Facebook? Do we need to twitter as well?

I've never been confused by a chart before. I read through it and am absolutely baffled, is it satire? Is it supposed to make a point? Granted I'm no college professor but I'd like to think I have a decent head on my shoulders. Absolutely confuzzled.

It was made up by English people in the English Language, Karen. What language do you use?

It demonstrates why Uganda, despite all the protestations, is a lost cause.

Yes. But all the Lapsed Catholics and PC Believers can still join get together and cry over people they'll never meet.

We call them Weeping Circles here. Or Truth and Reconciliation Sessions. Or Journey Meetings, followed by cups of tea.

If I hadn't run out of cigarettes I'd be sharp enough to make a quip suggesting we tag a Ugandan mountain with an American flag but no smokes = no jokes.

It is not. From the second link RB posted:

For all those misanthropes who missed the point (typically) the petition helped to close down a hateful page designed to incite violence against homos in Uganda.

Victory

From Freedom and Roam Uganda: We have now received this message from a facebook employee: "This petition was brought to our attention today. We looked into this and deleted the page." THANK YOU Facebook for listening, and a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who have signed! We want to be clear that this effort was not about disregarding the opinions or values of Ugandans. Many of us engaged in this fight are Ugandans ourselves. But some things are not negotiable. Things like human dignity and the right to privacy. Common decency is non-negotiable. For these reasons and others, we had to fight this fight. We had to take this stand. And thank you for standing with us. And for standing with regular Ugandans struggling to get by, loving the way they love, living their lives in private, and wanting the same things we all want. Sincerely, Kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera, Freedom and Roam Uganda

That is all the request for help was for.

and Grimshaw...

I managed to get you shut down without even a petition.

Every once in a while I like to take a break from all the cynical dread that I normally advocate.

This is an improvement on some of the crap so far proffered, but feel free to resume with more nuanced discussion.
