Really? Someone said that? Hell, I had a full goatee for YEARS and never heard a comment like that before. I liked that look, but went for the full beard thing later on as it was less work to maintain than the goatee. My 5 o'clock shadow showed up around noon every day...
As for the "goofball" thing, that's one of my pre-requisites; any guy I meet HAS to have a sense of humor, and if it's odd or warped, all the better

I actually had a semi-stranger tell me that it made me look like a pervert and a friend always joked that it was my "pedo-stache" haha.. I had to cut my beard when I moved into the professional world. For some reason, goatees are OK but beards are unacceptable. Side note: jobs suck, never get one.
lol my humor is a little more warped than most people expect. I'm pretty sure that it even shocks a lot of people. I come from a crass people, what can I say?

As long as your personality matches your looks I would say overall an 8 out of 10!!.. I love people who have a great personality and is attractive...I have noticed some on here that are pretty but they come across as an a@#hole which makes them unattractive...Love your hair color also!!

Your overall features are quite Average (5). There is nothing about your General looks that would "pop" you out of a crowd. Usual "Guy next door". Nothing "Wow" going on there.
What likely gets someone to First turn their head to look at you is your red hair (with the blond highlights). THAT certainly sets you apart from the "herd" (6). It even works buzzed, but if you'd let it get a bit longer, it would have and even higher attention grabbing factor (7). As is, your still at (6).
Next would be the "unusual" color of your eyes (7). Sort of a gray-green, at least in these pics. Not a "striking" green, but more green, than blue, none the less. Do you find that color gets more, or less, "intense" depending on your mood? I'd like to see them when you're feeling Really Good!
What would truly Zoom your "number", by at least 2 points, would be a genuine, wide, warm, friendly Smile! It would light up your face, and radiate more of a "Hotness" factor. But since we only have a grin/smirk to work with, so far, you're now only up to an 8.
So ... there you have my "vote". An 8 you currently are!
The outdoor pic from your gallery, with the longer hair, is a 9! (It looses a point since it's from the side, and doesn't show your eyes, but the Smile, from the side, puts that point back!)

I am a man who initiates contact through a man's eyes. You have eyes that are a 10. It is your best point of reference. That is a great beginning. That brings me to rate your whole face a 7. I find you very atttractive and good looking.

There are a ton of beautiful people in the world that up actually being very unattractive because of their personalities. It's a shame, but I guess that's the way the world works!

However, please keep in mind that though many will find you attractive, some will not. Try not to take that personally. Also, you're never going to be able to please everyone. A perfect example is the goatee. I think you look just fine and sexy with it, but others will tell you to shave it off. You need to do what YOU want to do. The fact is, my friend, you are a very attractive man, and if you're hoping to feel better about your looks by starting this thread, then I hope you've gotten the positive reinforcement you've been looking for.
Time and time again I'm blown away by the high number of hot gay men (like yourself) who think they're ugly or unattractive. I think a lot of gay men struggle with self esteem issues similar to what many women go through.
I have actually felt better since starting this thread. I still get very uncomfortable in public and pretty much refuse to even look in the direction of guys who appear attractive (in my peripheral vision), but I don't feel as "unworthy", if you will lol.. I do agree about the self esteem issues being prevalent in gay men, but I think that in some ways, underestimating yourself is better than overestimating yourself. I'd prefer to be modest than be cocky any day.

I forgot all about the abandoned-housing picture in my gallery! That was a time when I was in the middle of a laugh or something, but it is as close to genuine smile as I get. Ahhh, lost loves, lol.

I really like the first face pic, parted lips with a glimpse of the teeth. That is a great look to impress people.
Suggestions: get rid of the long side burns, hair is OK, I like short . Goatee, trim it close or at least don't let it get any longer. You are a nice looking guy and you look the way God made you. That should be good enough for everyone else.
