You never mentioned what the nature of the relationship is like. Are y'all exclusively together as in dating or fuckbuddies? Is it an open relationship?

This is simply a lack of communication. You said you thought you guys were heading down the path to dating. If you never made it clear what y'all were, he'd have to guess. Obviously, he assumed otherwise. You can't fault him for that.

Give him another chance. He was high, drunk, and thought it would be hot to have suprise birthday sex between the three of you. You said it yourself you'd have participated if you were informed beforehand, so the thought of him having some form of a relationship with his "friend" obviously doesn't bother you.

If him drinking or smoking weed is a problem, discuss it with him. Don't leave him in the dark. Why end the vacation over one flat tire?
