UN special resolution removes sexual orientation protection

As a result we cancelled our trip to St. Lucia in the winter with a letter to the travel company, the resort owner and our friends there, explaining that we couldn't support any country with our tourist dollars that had supported the removal.

As I noted, the fundamentalist baptist and Catholic church have a lot to answer for in many of the countries that voted or abstained or went absent.

And shame on South Africa too.
 
But most Western countries disregard the UN and treat it with contempt.
 
I'd add Albania to the list of countries we should be shocked about. Albania has been moving in the right direction for some time working toward inclusion in the EU. They should have been there for us.
 
The UN is a failure, enough said. It's an organization which has not helped the world in any way.

True. Instead, we're under special protection by the American Empire. I'm tired of that.

Mostly sick of funding a organization 100's of times greater than any other member for it to make shitty corrupt decisions. That should be the first CUT in balancing the US Budget.

It was a noble idea that a league of nations could work things out. I guess when the rest of the world gets civilized like in our congress (lol) then a UN concept will work.

I guess the working together regularly to assist all is as big a failure as socialism, communism and fascism.

No i would say until someone much smarter than me comes up with a better way then capitalism has provided the most for the most. Is the wealth flowing to the top like in every other economic system Yup... however more of the lower class have more than anytime in history.

Just we arent all middle class two cars and a house families and my god no matter how hard you work you deserve that right?

Also I don't know what the alternative is.
But every so often, capitalism takes away what you have gained - just like that, in a puff of smoke.
The poor get poorer and the rich get richer.
 
Time to find if Obama managed to dredge up a pair from somewhere.

A president with anything resembling a spine would order the State Department to round up and evict all diplomats from the countries which supported this, order cancellation of all aid, and tell corporations they have three months to find other places to do business. That includes from the U.N. itself.

Then order our U.N. ambassador to introduce a resolution to have these countries' memberships suspended for blatant and utter disregard of the Charter.

If that fails, pull all U.S. funding, period.

Unfortunately the U.S affords the UN. If the US left the UN it would effectively no long exist.

Global revolution? The problem is that any alternative will change the whole world. The world is a global economy and an easy one to affect at that.

That's really true. Try to compare us right now to pre-revolutionary France. 1%> owns 98% of all the money and land and there is widespread hunger. More or less speaking the poor in the US live decently as compared to the poor of almost any other country or any other time period.

I personally think everyone should have a house and be able to feed yourself and I think that the class of Americans call the working poor needs to be helped.

If that last is true, it's because most people have got a few pennies more than they used to but those on top have a few grand more.

By any sensible standard, that means the people on the bottom are slipping.
