Unbelievably Insane Statement...

>>>I'm just waiting for Him to smite Canada for legalizing gay marriage!

We've learned two things over the years.

1. God punishes those lands who go against his laws with natural disasters.
2. God couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

As you travel through Wyoming ,there are only major towns every hundred miles or so.In between those towns, there is absolutely nothing but brush, mountains and lots of wind..

I literally don't think I could handle driving that...

Especially by myself.

Scenerywise, yeah, there are better places, but in terms of actually living somewhere, I'd feel a lot more comfortable living in the northeast or CA than living in, say, Ohio, just due to the fact that certain areas are more liberal than others. .
Agreed, although Columbus ain't a bad place at all..

We do have the Chesapeake Bay here in Maryland, though, which is cool. Also, we have Assateague Island, which has a fuckload of wild horses running around on it.

I was out near where they run the horses across the channel once.Right ''on the border of Dixie'' as the souvenier stores said. It was a pretty area.It seemed like it would be nice to spend a few days there.

You don't have to go to Laramie, Wyoming to find racist haters like that.
We have them all up and down the east coast as well.

Yes, but it's comparatively rare for them to be comfortable airing their views in public.

When you're suitably north. Once you get into and below the Carolinas, I've heard you can easily find places where they're quite comfortable being publicly racist.

I guess that's probably true. Even in the North, there are people who need to be moved from "racism is socially inappropriate" to "racism is a moral outrage." But "socially inappropriate" is better than nothing.

Those feelings aren't entirely absent in the North, either.

The Sunday after NineOneOne, I was at a yard sale in Paramus, and I overheard a conversation about what Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell had exchanged on the 700 Club. You know - the conversation where one blamed the terrorism on the ACLU, gays, liberals, and feminists...and the other one responded in full lovefest-type agreement. They were telling each other how much they agreed, and that Falwell and Robertson were dead-on about why the terrorist attacks were deserved.

There is sort of a conservative streak in that part of New Jersey (and north-and-west of there).

These are people that watch Fox News. ..|

Why the fuck would you say that? My guess (if the story is true) is that it's just a dumb fuck who's upset about something. He may not even have a TV. Many small towns don't have Fox News - it's too expensive for the cable companies to carry.

BTW - George Bush caused the earthquake in Chili. Just thought I'd get a head start on Obama's press release for Monday.

If you blame someone for something you'd better have your facts - otherwise, after a while, no one will believe anything you say.

if the story is true

Sadly, it REALLY happened -- which is why I posted about it... #-o

I've never actually SEEN someone say something THAT ridiculous (not to mention the CRUDE reference) in public...

I really liked the "internet troll" video that bearboi posted -- because, in hindsight, it actually DOES remind me of stuff that people WILL write on the internet...

Having SAID that -- there is NO GUARANTEE that he was actually FROM Laramie -- he could have been passing through just like some of the rest of us...

I wasn't TRYING to imply anything in that regard either way...

:):):)

Well, as far as Pat and Jerry are concerned, I like to console myself with the thought that one of 'em is in Hell and the other one's going there.

Then I remember I don't actually believe in Hell. Drat.

Robertson also blamed the Haitian earthquake on the "deal with the Devil" that Haiti made to get free. He's against freedom for brown people, you see. Falwell probably would have agreed, but lucky for us he was safely [STRIKE]burning in Hell[/STRIKE] dead by the time the earthquake happened.

And what part of New Jersey does Pat Robertson live in? I didn't think he lived in New Jersey at all. Not that scumbaggery is unknown here; I just didn't know that particular scumbag lived here.

I need some more popcorn.

lemmie see:

1. Fact - 4 letter word , happens to be an "F" word too.
2. This is the internet - facts are not a prerequisite for keyboarding
3. Canadians AND rednecks are allowed here, generally making factz irrelivent.
4, FOX has a reputation, it's not a great one.

>>>Now that's a good one! Did you come up with that yourself, Lex?

Hell, I don't know. I just say stuff, and don't bother figuring out if it's original or not. Let's say it isn't, and I forgot who I stole it from. :)

Actually I wasn't saying at all that he lives in NJ, just that I've run into a lot of conservative types in that quadrant of the state - the incident in Paramus, and other conservative types in Sparta, Hackettstown, Upper Saddle River, Franklin...much more so than the rest of the state. (I've spent a lot of time in NJ over the years.)
