  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Underemployed, and it's driving me NUTS!

I always rather preferred the Deitrich's coffee across the street...

I kinda like that place too. It's a Daz Bog now, but still a gay hangout. Last time I was there, the big comfy couches were gone so it's not as good for just hanging out for a whole afternoon, but still has a cool vibe.

Is there an equivalent in the UP, Yooper? (trying to stay on topic at least a *little* bit :D )

If the King Soopers in Capitol Hill is called Queen Soopers, and if there were King Soopers in Michigan, would it be called King Yoopers in the UP? :D

There is the Super One 'UP' there.

Everyone calls it Stupid One.

So King Soopers would probably be called King Stupids. My baby brother thinks HE invented that.

There are coffee places but none that I know of that are 'cool.' Although the founder of Starbucks went to Northern, the first Starbucks opened 'UP' there only a couple of years ago.

offtopic:

The wheels came off the bus today at the Retail Emporium. And they picked me to put them back on.

Evidently the way the actual inventory process will be staffed (I wish they had told me this a few days ago, we could have saved tons of time and energy) is:
--The Inventory Supervisor is my actual boss.
--Salaried Management (2 per evening) will be present to handle problem merchandise
--Actual scanning will be carried out by Sales Associates.
--Accuracy Scanning (the double check process) will be handled by the Merchandisers (that's us).
--Random spot checks and problem solving including error clarification will now be me.

The 'Me' part may or may not have been planned, but I just stepped into the role without being asked, since that was my job years ago. We did a 'sample inventory' with all the Merchandisers this morning, counting the three stockrooms that my area. There were a few problems. Some scanning was inaccurate (ok, the only person that was at 100% was me...), there was some mislabeled merchandise, some things didn't scan. Fixed it all.

During the actual process, I will be the only person that has the password to hand key 'unscannable' tickets. (!)

Now if they would only freaking pay me enough. I want Medical Insurance. :grrr:

Wow -- I'd never appreciated what goes on inside a big store before. I'm imagining a scene where the doors close to customers, a brief pause, then an army of inventoriers comes scurrying out of every crack and crevice, armed with hand-held wireless scanners, and swarms over the racks and shelves scanning everything in sight like ants over a dead carcass. :D
