Underrated Artist Thread

Sheryl Crow is definitely underrated. Brilliant lyricist with an expressive voice. It's hard to pick a best out of her catalogue, but Leaving Las Vegas is definitely up there.

And of course, many others.

>>>A. Yes, their name is 'A'.

Did they have a song or album called "Nothing"?

Sheryl Crow??? Underrated???? The woman has 9 Grammys on her mantle and has sold millions and millions of records.......

Another one:

So after this weeks episode of The Riches after hearing Minnie Driver sing to her daughter in jail I started remembering how much I really liked her album...so I dug it out and listened to it again and relived how pretty an album it was...she has a great voice and writes some good songs. I saw her perform a few songs live when the album came out like 2 years ago. Her backing band was made up of members of the Wallflowers and Pete Yorn's band.

well here is the video for her first single off the album "Everything I Got In My Pocket"

and here is "Invisible Girl"

Faith Evans-She has had great album, after great album. But i dont hear folks talking about her music all that much...it's a shame to. Check out her debut for further proof and the duet she has with Mary J Blige...simply smokin!!

Alexz Johnson- She's a Canadian singer/actress. She stars in the show Instant Star on The N. She has released songs on the show's two soundtracks and will release a solo album in October.

If I Should Stay

Lucy Woodward- She's a singer/songwriter who co-wrote Stacie Orrico's single (There's Gotta Be)More To Life. She released her debut album in 2003 and is currently working on her second album.

Trouble With Me

Platinum Weird- A musical collaboration formed in 2004 between Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics and singer/songwriter Kara DioGuardi. The group's first album was released in October 2006.

Will You Be Around

Jack's Mannequin- A rock band from Orange County, California. The band is a solo project of Andrew McMahon, the lead vocalist and pianist for the California rock band Something Corporate. The band's debut album was released in August 2005.

Dark Blue

Anna Nalick- She's an American singer-songwriter. Her debut album Wreck of the Day was released in April 2005.

Wreck Of The Day

Josh Kelley- He's a singer-songwriter. He has released three albums and the song posted below is on his second album.

Almost Honest

I do love Faith Evans. And, Rosie Gaines (Prince & NPG)! Wasn't Faith Mary J. Blige's vocal coach at one point?

I am in love with Suzie Mcneil! She is my second favorite artist behind Joan Osborne is also hugely underrated! BTW the best performance from Rock Star was Start ME UP!

Kelis. I LOVE HER. She's so original and different. It's a shame most people only know her as "The Girl that sings "Milkshake"".

Some more of my fave underrated artist:

Aslyn - Be The Girl

B*Witched - Jump Down

Jeremy Camp (christian singer) - Take You Back

Paula Deanda - When It Was Me
Its not the video, but this is her new single

Joanna - Let It Slide

Everything by Rachel Stevens , her last album was amazing but didnt sell well in the UK even though it was acclaimed by many in the music industry.

Muse is a highly underrated band. Apparently it's because the lead singer has a really high voice that isn't good for radio... Here's there song Map of the Problematique set to scenes from the movie Children of Men; the song was used in some of the commercials for the movie. I tried to find a live version but none of them seem to have good audio quality.

Here's another video of them when they did a show in the UK. They were told they had to lip sync, big no-no. It's nice to see a band take a stand against lip syncing. For anyone who doesn't know Muse, the bassist is on the drums and the drummer is on bass.

Some of my favorite artists are underrated:

1. Jill Scott - she is simply amazing!!!! her voice is pure and beautiful and her songs have depth and meaning. I don't know how to post links and such, but if you look for her performance on the Grammys with Moby and the Blue Man Group singing "Natural Blues"... again, AMAZING!!!

2. Garbage - this is my most favorite band in the world. I am actually glad that they are not mainstream. It makes them a little more special to me.

3. Deborah Cox - now, to us gay boys that love Diva Dance music, she is quite frankly a Goddess. but to mainstream America, she is only known for "Nobody's Suppose to be Here". But bless her, she knows who loves her and continues to make music for he gay masses.
