United Nations: Israeli government must stop its settlement activities in Palestine

The UK supported the resolution.

What the right wing UK government objected to was Kerry's criticism of Israel's government as being 'the most right wing'.
The statement by Kerry, despite the May government's protestations, is correct... this current Netanyahu government absolutely IS the most right wing, nationalist one in Israel's history. In fact, to keep power I read a very interesting article recently which made a point that at this time Israel's left wing is seriously fractured and it is the right wing in ascendancy. Netanyahu played around with the nationalist hard right(for which he has shown some inarguable sympathies at the very least) and him remaining in power rests on not ticking off the small but tremendously influential pro settlement, nationalist, religious ultra orthodox parties.

^ Israel also has a very high population growth rate, having roughly doubled in size over the last 25 years.

Many of these immigrants are apparently Orthodox, which would broaden the support base for conservative parties.

You wanna talk about welfare queens, no one suckles on the state's teat like the Haredi ultra orthodox! And they don't even participate in the military, which is compulsory for everyone else. Their sole value in Israeli society is their vote.

I've heard of them and their very copious fertility rates. Scary thing is that liberal Jews are leaving Israel(or at least considering it) and the proliferation of the Haredi and influx of more conservative Jews may in a generation make Israel ripe for a theocratic state. Which was the very opposite of what was intended by the Zionist movement, most largely influenced by culturally Jewish but tendencies towards a secular outlook instead of a religious one and democratic socialist politically.

Never trust politicians who love to have others do the dying.

The crazy thing is it would be quite simple to make a case from the Torah and Prophets that anyone not willing to fight for their people don't have any business claiming membership in that people. So in my book these theocrats are traitors masquerading as Jews.

Britain has at least about 400 years of really not having any room to scold anyone.

Especially in the mideast, where they were in charge long enough they could have arranged things so none of this happened. They had been quite good at being very imperial when it suited them; they could quite easily have handed the Jews all of what King Solomon once held and made it stick. Instead they let things slide into a non-commitment commitment which left everything muddled..

Maybe a million Reform Jews from the U.S. ought to move there and change the balance.
