A bad start to the week. A WWII bomb was discovered on a building site in Birmingham leading to trains being cancelled and chaos on the roads. I abandoned my attempt to get into the city this morning and worked from home.

I travel on Virgin rather than London Midland whenever I go to London. There's no comparison. Virgin care about their passengers, London Midland clearly couldn't give a toss.

I think the London Midland franchise is up for remewal, but I don't think Virgin are interested in commuter services.
I think you are right on both counts. The commuter services will probably stay with LM.

I thought so. I see Labour are going on about renationalisation. I don't think that is an option, and I don't think we should go back to BR. I recall the filthy carriages with seats missing and dirty windows! A signaller friend has said on many occasions that the railway would be punctual and speedy if the trains did not have to carry passengers or freight!
