Untrue things U were as a kid that U BELIEVED.

When we first got dial up internet, I thought my parents were able to see which websites were visited when the bill arrived.

As a long-time former lifeguard, I can assure you that for a lot of people that's a good rule, though an hour tends to be plenty.

But there are some people whose physiology is such that unless they totally pigged out, fifteen minutes is plenty. For many kids, after a normal meal, even that may not be necessary. A big factor, though, is how in-shape a person is: when I was lifeguarding, biking twenty miles or more a day, running four or five, and rowing frequently, I could have a burger, toss the paper plate in the campfire, and jump off a 40-foot cliff into cold water and just swim off, while if people whose main exercise was biking to work and walking to the store did that they ended up dealing with cramps, and occasionally losing the burger. Personally I found that those who did more endurance exercise did better than others, but I've never seen that confirmed, even though I asked about it in lifeguard training review one year.

What was the funniest was what my grandmother told the girls in my family. She told them that they had to take off their bras before going to bed otherwise they could strangle themselves to death in their sleep. I still giggle every time I think about it.

I use to believe that the wiring for the washer and dryer was alien tentacles. It was all because of an X Files episode. They had an alien on one of the episodes which had tentacles which looked like the wiring of my washer and dryer.

I was afraid that if I went near it, the wires would wrap around me and kill me.
 
When I was a kid, I thought that when an adult wanted money, they just had to open there wallet, and all the money they wanted magicaly appeared there...
 
There are so many things that I thought were true as a child, only to find out that they are absolutely incorrect.

Frankly, if you want to learn that your school education was a bit flawed, simply start watching QI.

I always assumed you could fly, all you needed was a decent runup and a sufficiently high height.

We had a very dim young lady in our Jr. High convinced that if she gave oral sex, she ran the risk of a baby implanting in the back of her throat.

(It did not stop her, somehow, from finding a baby implanted in her uterus, the conventional way. . .LOL.)

I used to think that when people died and there were articles and photos in the newspaper, that the photo/s of the deceased were taken after death. I used to wonder how they got their eyes to stay open and who fixed their hair...I especially wondered all of this when the person died violently as in a car crash.

I was informed of the truth of the matter when a teenage girl that babysat me was killed in a car accident. They printed her photo in the paper and I remember telling my mom that they sure did a good job of making her look alive and how sad it all was.
