Upcoming Movies

I am really looking forward to Spiderman: Homecoming and Thor 3. Also I really want to see Girls Trip, though I am sure it will be bad.

Currently the only movie I really want to see it the new It movie. Beyond that I am still debating if I want to see the new Star Wars and Jusice League films.

I forgot about It. I loved the old one with Jonathan Brandis. I am not so sure about this one. I may check it out when it comes to the $4 theater here. I tend not to watch horror movies anymore.

Star Wars I am kind of over. I will watch it in time, but it is not worth it to me to see it in theaters.

Justice League I am not sure when I will see it. I would like to see it, but I don't care about Superman at all. On the other hand I really want to see Wonder Woman and if that is good I am sure I will check out Justice League in theaters.

Lol, I do want to see Thor the ragnarok but I don't know how I feel about Thor not having his hammer. I would want to see spider-man homecoming in the theaters but I don't know how many remakes I can see anymore of his origin story being told. I know I will eventually see it though.

I don't believe Homecoming is an origin movie. I think they just get into it.

Star Wars. I'm not a huge fan of the franchise, but I still like it. Other than that I definitely want to see Blade Runner 2049. I might see The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger, but not too sure. I loved the books but watching the trailer it looks like they turned it into a weird action cowboy xXx movie, which makes me want to stay away from it...

The Dark Tower looks interesting, but from the trailer I have no idea what it is about.

Looking forward to Spiderman, Thor, Star Wars and It. Seeing the new The Mummy on Friday which looks interesting so also looking forward to that!

This is true. They are skipping it at this point considering even the general audience doesn't need it to be told anymore. The actor playing Spider-Man is perfect for the part and Michael Keaton as the villain is awesome.

Blade Runner 2049 looks gorgeous, I am really hoping they do the universe justice. Huge fan of the original and its style.

I forgot The Mummy. I really want to see that, but it will have to wait until it goes to the $4 theater.

I was really pissed Asa Butterfield didn't get the role, until I found out Tom Holland is an ex Billy from Billy Elliot: The Musical. Anyone that can do that role deserves a chance.

If this were going the way of the books then The Gunslinger, the first book in the series, focuses on Roland chasing The Man in Black through the desert so that he can kill him. Roland comes upon a town that TMiB went through and he has to deal with what he did to the people in it. After he leaves the town Roland comes across an old abandoned farm where he meets a boy named Jake, who's from the early 1980s of "our" world, when the book was written. He kind of develops a relationship with the kid, seeing him as almost like a son. Finally at the end of the book he catches up with TMiB in a valley where time passes differently. TMiB wants to talk with Roland and he agrees. They talk for some time, after which Roland falls asleep (I can't quite recall if it was something TMiB did or not, it's been a good while since I read the book). When Roland finally wakes up a number of years have gone by and he resumes his chase.
Tried to make that as spoil free as possible lol. There's more to it than that, as the first book wasn't one story but 4 or 5 short stories of Roland strung together.

In the movie it seems like there's a number of differences. One of the first things I noticed was Jake looks a lot older than he should be in the book. The other is that you see Roland entering into "our" world, and it looks like modern day New York instead of 1980s. Also when Roland is first able to enter into it in the books he can't physically appear, but has to inhabit the minds of others to do it and that doesn't happen until the second book and it's in different timelines that happen before 1980. It's not until the fourth or fifth, or maybe later, that he appears in "our" world physically. You also see Jake going through what looks like counseling sessions, which again happens later in the series. This just seems like a weird mashup of the books in the series.

Thanks for the run down. How many books are there and are there more being written that you know of?

It may be worth checking out.

Hey listen. If you haven't seen Get Out and you like a really good horror/mystery see it. It is excellent. It is still in theaters and on dvd.

There's 8 books in all, 7 numbered and the 8th that came out about 10 years after he finished the series. If you were to place the 8th book it would go somewhere in the middle of the series. It's pretty much him telling his companions a story of one of the first missions he went on as a young teenager not long after he became a gunslinger.
Also, you can kinda...somewhat say a number of his other books can be loosely connected to the Darktower series as well. The Man in Black is the antagonist in his other books, but he goes by different names, such as Randall Flag from The Stand, which Roland and his companions visit that world after the plague. There's also the priest from Salem's Lot that makes an appearance, as well as characters from Hearts in Atlantis.

I honestly think King is long winded, but I love that his stories interlock. Thanks.
