Free upgrade since I bought my iMac within the time frame. Any negatives to downloading it?

Seeing as you've probably been drinking the koolaid for a while, I don't see any harm in another sip.

Now that I'm done trolling, I will say that the additional features offered, to me, are not worth US$20.

Free upgrade what's the harm in upgrading? I still have the previous OS on mine because of all the bad things I hear about Mountain Lion.

What "bad things" are you guys talking about? It only became available today!

Maybe its best to wait until it's safe to upgrade, hopefully the offer for free upgrading will still stand until you're ready to do so.

I'm sorry, but that list is bullshit. I upgraded earlier today and have had no issues whatsoever.

A Speed Demon, For The Most Part-They quoted Jesus Diaz, who copied and pasted his 'review' from when the betas and GM were first released. He didn't even bother to change some of the things in his write-up. That, and every other blog noted that ML is faster than Snow Leopard is, and leaps and bounds ahead of Lion. He is a click-baiter, and that's clear when you compare what he wrote to what everyone else did.

Missing Files?-Google this. Five of the six top results link back to the article you posted. Only one link goes anywhere, and that's to Apple's support forums. Searching for the same thing in Apple's support communities yields only one result, again, the same one Google finds. If it was an issue, there would be threads and threads about it.

Missing Software-They claim Facebook integration is missing. Except for one thing: Apple has always said that it would be coming in the Fall, at the same time as iOS integration. It even says it on the product info page for Mountain Lion. Chalk this one up to stupidity on the author's part.

Incompatibility-This would be the developer's fault. Apple gave them plenty of time to get their apps ready (just like Microsoft does) and the devs didn't get their app ready in time. I upgraded and had zero incompatible apps. This is not a bug, nor is it an issue that Apple has control over.

If you have a free upgrade, there's no reason to wait. It offers up a bunch of new features, and if your computer is new enough to have that free upgrade, then it was designed with those features in mind. Plus, Mountain Lion is significantly faster and more stable than Lion was.

Airplay mirroring and the boost in system speeds alone are worth $20.

i installed it without any problems. There aren't any dramatic "must have" features, but I'm happy to finally have airplay mirroring. $20 seems like a fair price.

Huh. I've had nothing but Windows-equipped computers since the year 2000; this is my first foray with "koolaid", all of two weeks or so. You will be pleased to know that I prefer Windows and wish I hadn't bought a Mac and I really miss Internet Explorer.

I think they stopped making IE for Mac years ago since the only three browsers I see on Mac are Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

I didn't think people still used IE on Windows computers.

That comment was just trolling. I'm not one who cares what OS/phone/toilet paper one uses.

But missing IE - son you best get your head looked at

YOu'd be surprised. It'll get worse with W8. Most people just use a computer with what's installed.

Installed ML on day one on my current MacBook Pro. Not a single glitch so far. Worth it for Notifications alone.

I'm sorry you're not enjoying your new machine. I find it usually takes Windows users around a month to grow comfortable with a new OS. Feel free to post questions if there are things that aren't working for you.

I've installed it on iMac and Macbook and no real probs. A couple of progs needed to be upgraded but that was only to be expected with the amount of stuff I have on them. I can't really think of any good reason not to upgrade and the price will hardly break the bank.
