I'm having the first nose bleed of my entire life and I need to know is it safe for me to go to sleep? Will I wake up dead in a pool of my own blood? I don't wanna drown in my blood or something if it starts dripping again.

Any other info/help/advice with nose bleeds would be appreciated also.

Recline, somewhat, plug your nostril with a wad of kleenex or toilet paper and cold pack your nose.
The bleeding SHOULD stop soon.
Be very careful when removing the plug so you don't reopen the interior wound.
It you cannot stop the bleeding get yourself to someone who CAN.
A severe nosebleed is nothing to mess with......

The NHS told me how to stop it earlier which worked and then it started bleeding again but I stopped it again now. I think it started up again because I was looking at it and touching it a little bit.

When I go to sleep should I try and sleep upright? They said to keep my nose above my heart (so stay standing/sitting)

Will I be able to blow my nose in the morning? My nose feels all funny.

Don't lie down......recline. You'll know if blood is going down your throat......which is not a good thing....... :(
You CAN blow your nose but be very gentle.
Even after the bleeding stops I think you should leave a plug in so you don't try to blow your nose for a while.

Fold a facial tissue so that it is about the shape of a thick pencil. Carefully push it into the nostril while pushing it away from the inside surface where the bleeding comes from. Then let it contact the bleeding surface and apply light pressure on the outside of the nose to be sure it makes good contact. The bleeding should stop pretty quick. Let the packing stay in the nose for several minutes. To remove it, gently push it toward the outside of the nose away from the bleeding surface and slowly pull it out. You don't want it to contact the inside of the nose where the bleeding comes from while pulling it out. That should be it and you shouldn't have any blood clots left in your nose. If you let the bleeding stop on its own, you will have a blood clot in your nose which you can blow out very carefully. That can be messy. It is much easier to pack your nose to stop the bleeding. The packing absorbs the blood and you shouldn't have any blood clots. I was plagued with nose bleeds when I was young and I learned how to stop the bleeding pretty quick by packing it. The trickiest part is removing the packing without starting more bleeding.

I just woke up. My nose is all crusty inside but I am not dead so thank you :D The pressure thing on part of your nose is what the NHS told me to do and it worked. That packing thing sounds painful. My nosehole is no where near as big as my butthole.

Nosebleeds usually stop within 5 minutes or so if you're healthy. After that, you're good to go.
