URGENT TV ALERT! Extermination of Gays in Uganda

I don't think this subject has even been mentioned in France. I did a little research and can find nothing from one of the major newspapers nor the main TV chain.

So thank you for these updates.

Mind you it makes me so angry following this and feel so inaffective in my ability to do anything about it.

^ That's VERY disappointing. I assumed that the story would be well known all over Western Europe, at least.

I didn't expect it to get any traction here, either. I still find myself wondering whether, if Rachel Maddow hadn't been following the story, it would have ever seen the light of day in this country either. I'm not hearing much about it anywhere else.

I also don't believe, for even a minuscule fraction of a New York nanopicosecond, that The Family is really sincere with their conDAMNation of this Ugandan bill, either. After all, for them, it's eternal damnation for anybody who's at all different...

Gotta go...time for Keith on the TV!

President Museveni of Uganda seems increasingly embarrassed by the debate and it appears likely that the death penalty clause will be dropped. For gay Ugandans, however, the hatred that has been stirred up will not be easily forgotten.

The death penalty clause will likely be dropped? So would being gay still be illegal?

Makes me sick to my stomach to know that there is so much hate out there because of ignorance.

How is the situation in Uganda the responsibility of the US? Do you think people in Uganda are robots who lack their own prejudices and obey blindly what outsiders tell them? How is extermination of homos US policy in Africa? People hate the US because it thinks that it is the center of the universe and that everything that happens is connected to it, which is the exact same attitude you are expressing above. Ridiculous.

Actually, I doubt that Africans would feel this way regarding gay people if religous americans did not go over there to convert them and teach them about he 'evils of homosexuality'. It was Americans and 'Christian values' that helped influence this bill.

God...People really have that much hate in there hearts for something that has zero effect on them..

If they're going to eradicate homosexuals, might as well eradicate straight men and women because they're the one who make the gay babies....

Am I making sense?

I would advocate state-sponsered assassinations of pastors (starting with the American ones who put so much wieght behind the bill,) and politicians involved. Let them know that this is the 21st century and that they can fuck off back to the bronze age if they want to behave like cave dwellers. But then, I think that may be my totalitarian streak showing through.
