I've never been in a restroom with urinal dividers. I guess it's just not high up on the priority around here?

At the restaurant I ate last night there were no dividers and I remembered this thread. It's still common here in Spain.
While some of the reason may have been privacy, the reason bathroom manufacturers site is guys spraying other by accident. I live in Valencia, Spain where many toilets do not have the dividers, and have gotten an gve a couple of good hand jobs.
For me sex doesn't always have to mean getting naked and fucking. Knowing that another dude is getting aroused watching me is a huge turn on for me too; it's a rush. Now, I'm just building up the courage to actually jerk off with a guy at the urinals.

Yep I remember urinals without dividers. seeing less & less of that now, and its deff not something I'd miss if they all went away.

My first memory of trough urinals was when as a kid I went to a college football game.
It was not so much the urinal that created the impression but all the drunken college guys full of beer with the Niagara Falls of piss flowing and I was standing there peeing out a small coke.... I never knew the human body could hold so much liquid!

I've seen and used trough urinals; but if you really want to remember urinals without privacy screens, think back to the days before indoor plumbing where anyone and everyone had to utilize the old fashioned out house. Talk about no screens

I would note that there may be a bit of a misconception about this. In most cases, where there were two or more holes in the outhouse, they were often different sizes because children had to use the outhouse as well...or the women had a separate hole. It also meant that waste didn't pile up as much in one hole, making cleanout easier because the waste had a chance to decompose before needing to be removed. It was also not uncommon that the one was used more for urination instead of evacuation because mixing urine and shit isn't great for decomposition or odour. I knew of one farm where this was the practice.It wasn't really common for people to synchronize shitting together unless they were in a work camp or something...although humans haven't been shy about this in history.
My own grandparents outhouse was always painted nice bright colours and keep spotless...even with lace curtains on the windows.
But nothing beats a whole community coming to the shitter to chat.

I will admit when I was a kid--long before I knew what gay was---I did find it fascinating to use a urinal without dividers.
some restrooms have dividers and others don't have them
In the days when smoking in bars was allowed, you could chase the fag ends along the channel.

One of the best urinals I enjoyed was in the Royalton Hotel in NYC....it was just a sheet of stainless steel with water running down it...you could get three or four lined up.
I also remember a sheet of frosted glass being used in a similar way at another club or hotel, but for the life of me....I can't recall the location. What I do remember is that you could get more of a reflection of what everyone in the line-up was pulling out of their pants.

I can barely stand to use a stall, no way am I using a urinal.
I still see these around, but it always seems to be in older restrooms. But most restrooms seem to have dividers, urinals that by design allow one to stand close and have oneself shielded from view (and some places with these urinals also have dividers).
These urinals that allow shielding by design were the standard in schools I attended (built 1950s-about 1970).
I've seen small troughs in a few swimming pool locker rooms. Although I think all those pools are now gone. And I don't recall seeing them used by more than one guy.
There is a part of me that thinks open urinals are neat. (And not just as a gay guy--although that's undoubtedly a factor.)
This said, I struggle with urinals in general. If I'm the only guy there, no problem. If I'm peeing, and someone else shows up, no problem. But going to a bunch of busy urinals, and trying to pee historically was a problem. This applies to urinals that aren't divided--I was using one probably monthly with no problems--but I cannot imagine trying to even trying to use open urinals that are busy.
Maybe one day... There was a time when I couldn't even use one in a totally empty restroom. Indeed, I remember in school trying it more than once, and failing. Humiliating, because it seemed like no other boy had problems.
