I'd guess this is probably true. And I certainly have seen "tiny dick" photos that look pretty much what I'd consider to be in the normal range.

It might be helpful. Group showers in gyms can be helpful showing reality, and helping guys with accepting their bodies. But those showers are disappearing, and I'm not sure they'll come back. There are many possible reasons for the decline, but I'd guess one reason many men hate them now is they have distorted view of "normal" thanks to porn. One of the best urinals I enjoyed was in the Royalton Hotel in NYC....it was just a sheet of stainless steel with water running down it...you could get three or four lined up.

I also remember a sheet of frosted glass being used in a similar way at another club or hotel, but for the life of me....I can't recall the location. What I do remember is that you could get more of a reflection of what everyone in the line-up was pulling out of their pants.

As kids we changed for swim lessons at the Y -

At camp 10 boys sleeping in 1 cabin and showering in open showers

Starting in 7th grade mandatory showers after gym class

In the college dorms showering with everyone else on the floor every day.

And you realized that with all those differences they all worked the same and you got over it.

I think what happened with younger men is that in the 1980s, certainly by the 1990s, everyone got obsessed with child abuse and sexual harassment, and the P. E. coaches in the schools got scared, so they didn't make the boys in their classes take showers anymore. Consequently, our latest crop of young men never learned that being naked is other guys is no big deal. When I was in Jr. High, the coaches made sure we knew we had to take showers, and boys who didn't would have to endure the embarrassing ritual of a coach ordering them to strip and following them to make sure they really did take their shower, in front of all their peers. If a coach did that today, they'd be fired, probably arrested, and get shamed in the public media circus.

Good point. Although in any setting, it can be argued there must be someone who is the smallest or biggest (on the team, the PE class, whatever). And I'm sure there is some guy out there that has a dick that's just about guaranteed to be the smallest. Imagine his excitement the day he sees someone even smaller!

I suspect there were other issues. Kids became more modest. There was the theoretical threat of legal action. I think ACLU got involved in at least a couple of school shower cases. Some places probably looked at eliminating shower requirements on practical grounds--saving money on towel costs, or a simple time issue.
