most of those are living outside of germany. more holocaust deniers live outside of germany than in. mocking anything related to wwii is a big taboo here, sites like "hipsterhitler" (google it) or certain british jokes are a taboo (and the brits love it). also something that the young generation does have a problem with - while many old people don't even want to celebrate new years eve, because it reminds them too much of war.

I could have sworn I saw a Neo-Nazi march in Berlin recently. I don't remember seeing one of those here. Sure, you can argue the Tea Party is our version of the Neo-Nazis however if the economy was better, they'd be nonexistent.

Young South Koreans and Japanese sound the same way. They thing Kim Jong Il is their friend and a victim of imperialism.

All I have to do to find people and propaganda favoring turning blacks back into slaves, or shipping them "home", is to drive through certain parts of any nearby city with a population of over 50k. For that matter, I can find it on the walls of restrooms on interstate rest stops, state parks, and even businesses.

Cross burnings -- not lately. But it wasn't too long ago that a black family was encouraged to relocate by the burning of a cross into their lawn with RoundUp, just down the road. Of course the sheriff's department listed it merely as vandalism, just like they list gay guys getting brutalized as "personal disagreements".

The KKK is still with us, and other white supremacists are alive and well.

Sure they are still with us. But they're not nearly as bold as I've seen them on TV in Germany. They blend into society here and don't go on marches. Maybe it's because we have a huge supply of guns in peoples' hands.

There was a Neo-Nazi march here in Portland a while back. The media didn't even mention it that I could find.

The truly warped thing is why I knew about it: one of our young Pink Pistol members, gay and hot, decided to join the Neo-Nazis.

A state is not the same thing as an individual and to equate the two is jejune to say the least.

Nations have the obligation to say 'sorry' when they contravene the fundamental tenets of their own constitution and Bill of Rights and trample on the basic human rights and dignity of other human beings. To not do so implies socio-pathic behaviour.

I think that the present day citizens of the US can actually hold their heads up a bit higher by acknowledging fault. It is the sign of a maturing society.

i cant agree with you at all....everytime we apologize for something....its after its been declassified and gone over with a black permanent marker......if you want to apologize ...do it while the victims are still alive and breathing....not when it becomes public knowledge

He'd agreed to be our "poster child" for an awareness campaign in Portland. Next shoot after that he shows up in high black boots and brown shirt, very very pre-takeover Nazi 'enforcer' getup, everything but the swastika.

Half of us were able to overcome our shock enough to try to talk sense into him. But he was convinced that only the neo-Nazis had the strength and discipline to do something about the "infestation" of dark-skinned people in the country.
