* ... In this land "down under" - we'd normally PROSECUTE ... and THEN crucify
Maybe it's a coriolis thingy ?

so...you had sex with a 16 year old while you were in your mid thirties?
for 6 months?
I don't know what the age of consent down under is, but here in the U.S. what you did is criminal

and creepy as fuck

The age on consent in Australia is 16 or 17 depending on the state. It's 16 in Victoria where Daylesford Nude Dude comes from (assuming there isn't a teacher/student relationship). Whilst it may be creepy, it sounds like it wasn't illegal.

Nope. Disagree.

It is like having one named after Turing.

Turing would have been a better choice. Frank Kameny would have been a much better choice.

Both Harvey Milk (and Bayard Rustin, for that matter) sound good on paper but both were opposed to the Vietnam war, so naming a military vessel after them doesn't match their political beliefs.

Bayard would be a better choice if he wasnt black. Not sure if not backing an unrighteous war means he was antiwar. I mean, those were some peculiar circumstances to say the least, even the most diehard "patriot' wont gkamorize vietnam and as far as I know there are no efforts to scrub it from the history books or remix who what when where why and how.

Not sure how that is relevant.

Rustin was opposed to communism but he was also raised as a Quaker. He was a pacifist and was jailed for refusing to serve in WWII.

Does the US Navy have a history of naming its ships in honour of foreign nationals?
USS-WINSTON-CHURCHILL-DDG-81.png

^ The U.S.S. Winston Churchill

I think at the time, there was some mention of Churchill's mother being American but- I think- there's no requirement that naval vessels be named after Americans. There's a U.S.N.S. Bob Hope (he was born in the UK). There's a U.S.S. Canberra and a U.S.S. Anzio.

3 centuries of colorism that's still going on. Color is never not relevant in America. Anyone who says otherwise is lying, or at least avoiding an uncomfortable topic.

Let me introduce you to the U.S.S. Doris Miller:

All are or were commissioned U.S. Navy vessels.

Yawn. Point still stands, so long as slave owners are plastered all over our currency, and memorialized with statues and monuments and intricately woven into the very fabric of our national identity, so cheap lip service naming big metal ships after a few people of color is extremely unimpressive.

Is that still a thing? Why do we celebrate him? He never even killed anything. #MuriKKKa

Dunno I don't think we ever learned anything about him in school...I do know that in January I buy a 1/2 gallon of chocolate milk it started off as a joke then it was like well fuck it no one thinks I'll do it and I've been "celebrating" with chocolate milk for almost 10 years now:rotflmao:

At least you made the right choice, people who drink regular milk raw (not in cereal or for dunking cookies) are cringe as fuck.

There’s chocolate milk too. ;)

Only on Martin Luther King Day!

The Milk is an oiler. It is second in a series of 20 replenishment ships to be named for civil and human rights leaders. Does anyone know the name of the Class designated by the name of its first ship?
