US prison system: we can't release non-violent weed dealer cuz he snuck some chicken in his cell

Ladies and gentlemen, the freest bestest country in the world won't offer compassionate release for a weed dealer (a plant doctors prescribe to cancer patients that is currently making a lot of mostly-white people very rich) serving a 20 year sentence just as the title states. he didn't beat up a guard or smuggle a knife into the showers, no, he snuck some chicken into his cell. this isn't normal. the sooner we stop defending an obviously corrupt judicial system the better. of course the major blockage being that people just don't care about black men, the guards could livestream beheading this man and using his head as a soccer ball and people would be like "welp, don't do the crime!

It has always been just a way of continuing enslavement and of course, feeding a corrupt private for profit prison system while stripping ex felons of the right to vote.

I don't know if all the weed dealers in Canada have had sentences commuted or rescinded since it became legal, but we more or less stopped crazy stupid sentencing for only dealing weed a long time ago.

But it isn't going to change until Americans vote in such strength to clear the benches of racist appointees, and send all the Jim Crow old boys downriver.

Decriminalization is happening in pockets, Cali has done some work to reverse the damage of the war on [strike]drugs[/strike] minorities but it's not enough. fortunately for the powers that be black america lost our mobilization of the 60s, we're disorganized and distracted and allowing our govt to quietly let wypipo get rich selling a plant after spending decades and billions of dollars incarcerating blacks and poor people for the same thing.

Warrants in more than 1,100 Nassau County cases were dropped on Thursday, as the prosecutor’s office moved to dismiss them in the wake of the legalization of recreational marijuana in New York state as well as the repeal of a 1970s-era prostitution law.

Of the cases, just under 900 were concerning marijuana possession, while the rest involved prostitution charges.

Last month, a law was passed legalizing the possession and use of recreational marijuana by adults. In February, elected officials repealed a decades-old law against loitering for the purpose of prostitution that critics claimed had been enforced with bias, particularly against transgender women of color.
