Using Windows Server 2008 as a workstation OS

What sort of foot print does Server 2008 leave on the hdd and resources during operation? Basically i'm asking if it takes as much umph to run it as it does Vista? I'm assuming yes, but thought i'd ask just in case.

I had the 2008 RC a while back

And the install ground to a halt. 100% resource utilisation.

So, I wasn't to keen to, umm, acquire the release version.
