'V'

The original was popular because of all the drama that the Diana character brought to the show. The previews for this new one look somewhat decent. When does it start? And is it a miniseries (do those still exist?) or is this going to be a regular show with regular seasons?
Yea this new lady does not have the charisma of Diana. Plus there was the whole star child thing. I dunno about this. I'd rather have elizabeth stay on lost.

I searched Elizabeth Mitchell and it was in her filmography thing ;)

This should be interesting to say the least. I might catch it.

OMG, I LOVED V sooo much. And I love this. The only thing I don't love, doesn't friggin Hollywood have one single original idea anymore?

I'd rather have a conclusion to the original series which ended with a cliffhanger.

The original series had an ending. It was in another mini-series called V: The Final Battle. It involved the humans developing something called "Red Dust" that killed the aliens and was released into the air...with no harmful effects on humans.

Note to Scains. The original series had amazing special effects for it's time. The plot was amazing. Now if ABC tries to make this like a regular series and treat it like "Lost" then count me out. Not interested.

What do you mean "treat it like LOST" this is not going to be anything like LOST.

I think it is actually just 13 episodes. Elizabeth Mitchell said her stuff had all been done (she was filming LOST an 'V' at the same time) and that her part in 'V' was finished - unless they bring her back of course.

I don't know if it will have regular seasons or not.

This looks interesting. I loved the original V. Its been a while since the other series so although I remember the general premise, I dont remember too many specifics of the series. The trailer makes it look interesting. Hopefully, if it doesnt do as well as planned, they'll at least have some kind of conclusion episode. I am tired of getting interested in series only to have them cancelled and left hanging.

Well luckily Fox doesnt have it, which means it has a better chance at a decent life if it is good.

My fav TV show as a youngster was V.

I will certainly check it out when it screens here. (!)

I'm sure it won't be as good as the original miniseries but I want to see it anyway.

As mentioned I too hope it gets a good run and not cancelled without resolving the story. They do that far too much these days. :grrr:

I don't know ... last I heard, the creator Ken Johnson was going to a new series set after the original mini series.
I'm a big 'V' fan, I remember watching it when it was first on in England ... I'm having the same mixed feelings for this as I did with Battlestar Galactica ... we'll see

ABC Orders 'V' Pilot

The remake of the 1980s classic is one step closer to reality as ABC has ordered a pilot for "V" from Warner Bros. Television.

ABC first announced its intention to remake "V" last October, making it clear they were going to go in a different direction than what original creator Kenneth Johnson had hoped to do. Instead, the network was interested in a take on "V" from "The 4400" co-creator Scott Peters. Among the changes include the removal of the Holocaust and Nazi allegories from the original, and more of a focus on the character of Erica Evans, a Homeland Security agent whose life is turned upside down once the aliens arrive.

ABC plans to create an interactive experience for viewers using technology that wasn't available when the original "V" aired in the 1980s, including a gaming platform that is being developed by Jason Hall from HDFilms.

ABC has made it clear that one aspect of the show will remain the same from the original: the opening dramatic shot of spaceships hovering over major cities, a style of shot that was later used in the film "Independence Day."

A pilot order does not necessarily mean a series pickup, so it's unclear how far "V" will get in the process of joining ABC's fall lineup. Casting for the pilot should begin immediately.

The original "V" aired as two miniseries on NBC before becoming a short-lived series in the 1980s. It starred Marc Singer, Jane Badler and featured Robert Englund, who would go on to his own fame in a string of Nightmare on Elm Street movies as Freddie Kreuger.

I'll watch if I can remember. I loved the original when I was a kid. Remember when they ate a guinea pig? lol

If it keeps some kid of clever subtext, it could be good.

The original had fascism and Nazi Germany. What does this one have? We'll see.

I think he has the proper continuation to V and not the Last battle that he wasn't really involved in in a book now called V: New generation or something.

People forget that there was some fallout and the Final battle happened yet KJ wasn't really involved with this so fans like myself count V as 1 mini series although I have the Final Battle on DVD and buy the series too as I love Michael Irside as an actor.

i'm happy to see Joel Gretsch,Elizabeth Mithcell and Morena working. i'm a fan of their work.

First it was Transformers... then it was G.I. Joe... now this...

WHY IS HOLLYWOOD SHITTING ALL OVER MY CHILDHOOD ???????????????

Seriously if I hear they're making a new version of Night Court I will climb the next flight to California and give every single person involved a boot to the head.

I was a HUGE fan of V: The Miniseries, V: The Final Battle, and V: The TV Series, however I’m just not sure I will be able to get into this edition. There seems to be a lot of changes to the story. My biggest gripe is that they are NOT wearing their red and black uniforms, but a bluish gray uniform. :(

Both were great miniseries and one of the hilites of my childhood. The series wasn't as good but it was still fun.

I'd actually LIKE to see them remake it, with souped up special effects and gritty JJ Abrams-style production. However this doesn't look like it's going to be that.

I'll give it a look before I decide though, I thought the new battlestar would suck too and look how that turned out.
