My bf and I are thinking of going somewhere December or January. He wants to use his miles, so we're thinking domestic.

We want to go somewhere warm. If you had to choose, would you to go San Francisco, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Phoenix, or elsewhere?

We've been to Fort Lauderdale before. I've been to Phoenix, and he's been to San Francisco and Los Angeles. However he was in Los Angeles in the 60's when he was married so it's almost negligible

We like to go to museums, go out to bars and drink/dance, go out to eat, swimming, and going to a play or musical.

I like shopping and he likes history, machinery, old airplanes, old cars, ships.

If you know of any older/younger type places in any of these cities that'd be appreciated too.

Phoenix and Sedona, a 1 hr drive from Phoenix, are absolutely wonder places to visit, and the accomodations will be very reasonable, even at high end places, at that time of year. If anyone is interested in details about Sedona, AZ, feel free to write me. We have been to Phoenix several times, Sedona once, and loved every minute of it. The Grand Canyon, not so impressive, I liked Sedona and the red mountains much more.

I'm sorry, I got it backwards. The summer is when hotels are really cheap in AZ.

I'd go to Key West, Florida. No museums, but lots of bars, restaurants, dancing, and nightlife entertainment.

Thanks for the info guys.

I've been to Phoenix before a few years ago.

Supersix, do you know of any new (2006+) things to do there? Have any new museums or other major institutions opened there?

Mbamike, we thought about Key West. I'll put that back on the list. Thanks for reminding me!

I'd go to Ft. Lauderdale; I love it there. The beaches are beautiful as are the men and the clubs. There are some good museums (I've seen King Tut and the Titanic exhibits). Its also close to Miami where there are usually concerts and symphony...

San Fran can be cold (definately no shorts) although there are tons of clubs and you can go south to San Jose and it warms up substantially.

I'm not a fan of Phoenix only because you have to drive everyplace (although the light rail does go by a couple clubs).

We're going to Key West for New Years....

I'm not really up to date on anything like that, but there's a fantastic travel website, www.frommers.com
In Scottsdale, part of Phoenix, is a great italian restaurant called Maggiano's. If you're interested in Sedona, a one hour's drive from Phoenix, I can tell you all about that, too. On Frommer's is not only their info, but a message board with tons of other info, too. We took a tour with a company called Silver Spur tours from Sedona to the grand canyon, and they were wonderful, with a private, roomy, comfortable van (high roof Mercedes, like the Dodge Sprinter), and the guide, VERY knowlegable about the gc, couldn't have been nicer. The food in Sedona was outstanding!

Yes, I love vegas too! Haven't been there in several years, but every time I look, rooms are reasonable.

Thanks supersix. I've been to Sedona and loved it.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do as I had a spat with my ex in Arizona (or was it when we were in Santa Fe), so in a way it has some bad memories, but I enjoyed it overall.

Thanks all who have contributed!

I'm biased. I'd do LA... only because I like the place, and I'm a big Disneyland fan too.

I SO like the place (or DisneyWorld) that it'd have to be part of the honeymoon.

Any particular places in LA? If we were to do that area, we'd probably try and fit in DisneyLand too as I've only been there once.

birddog7, thanks for the advice, but he wants to use his miles.
