Sunday and today is another glorious winter day. Bright sunshine and cold which is the way I love it this time of year.

Church this AM was OK. Our preacher is not that great so sometimes I tend to drift off during his sermons but I guess we can't all be great preachers. I just wish he would challenge us a bit more. That is what my life as a Christian is all about for me. The challenges of life and how we face up to them and everyday life. We need to constantly be pushed and prodded and reminded of what we are all about. At least that is what I think.

I saw someone started another thread today about spanking children. I made my views know once on this subject and won't do it on a thread again. I got really beat up over that issue. I am just so surprised at the number of JUB guys and women who condone hitting children as a form of teaching.

How can this teach anything except more violence? Violence teaches violence in my book pure and simple. And then for people to say

Well here it is a bright sunny cold Monday with a promise of warmth today. I saw some crocus blooming yesterday. Way to early for them but what can you do? They are pretty as they poke their little heads up out of the earth and show off their pretty colors for all to see.

I guess some people dread Mondays as it is the beginning of the work week for many. I guess the upside of having worked in hospitality for so many years is that I work many weekends and have never really thought of Monday as the beginning of a work week thus I don't really dread it. I also have never had a job where I knew what a real weekend was. Strange thought. I often take my weekend in the middle of the week! Or a day here and a day there!

I watched a movie called Osama last night about the post Taliban Afghanistan. It was an amazing story I will review it in my thread today but I would reccomend it. Lots to think about. I mean the Russians invaded Afghanistan and then we supported the Taliban in our quest to control the world and get the Russians and then the Taliban turned out to be much worst than the Russians ever were.

What they did to these people and this culture was amazing. A weird fanatical brand of Islam that was unrecognizable to the rest of Islam. They twisted the beauty and the truth that is in Islam and made a world of their own dark making.

I have had meetings most of the day today and so have finally gotten some time to enter into my blog.

We have had clouds, sun and cool weather today. I have been sitting on my ass most of the day! I need to get some exercise! Maybe I will just go home and beat my meat for exercise today!!!! LOL!

Today is Ash Wednesday. It is a very prayerful day for guys like me. I went to a service at noon and received my ashes and had communion. I love the service on Ash Wednesday. Gives me something to think about. About my relationships with my friends and with my God. I think about how I treat others around me and how I am treated.

Lent is a good thing for me. I try to take on something instead of giving something up.

A few guys have asked what I took on for Lent this year instead of what I gave up.

I have taken on trying to be more intentional about at least turning on the light in my closet. I don't think this will be the year I actually open the door but at least I may be able to turn on the light and take a good long look at myself and who I am and what I want to be.

I am also looking hard at how I treat the people around me and what I say or do to stand up for those who are persecuted in any way shape or form. I don't buy all the Political Correctness bashing bullshit. If it hurts even one person then it is wrong and should be changed no matter how hard that might be.

We are all humans and all deserve to be treated with respect.

I am also going to do all I can to pray for peace everyday. I mean peace from war, peace from malnutrition, peace from abuse, peace from all things harmful. True and lasting peace. I know it is a lofty goal but one that I want to add my small voice to.

We had high winds and snow flurries all night long. My wind chimes on the deck outside my large sliding glass door outside my bedroom were making music all night long!

I also like to watch the NCDOT trucks with salt and snowplows as they announce themselves with their blinking yellow lights. They lumber up and down the mountain spreading their salt and slag and scarping the roads. They rumble with the sounds of the heavy chains on their tires as they drive up and down the roads.

Schools are closed today and I know the young people are so happy! The skiers will be happy this weekend and the slope operators will be very happy with all their revenue!

It was extremely windy down here in our valley last night so I can just imagine what it was like up on top! They must have been freezing their proverbial nuts off up at the ski slopes last night. LOL! But hey it is winter and that is what it is all about.

Well let's see today is mostly cloudy and cold and we are having a bit of rain.

Got up early came to work to fill the coal furnace. it actually did not need to much coal this AM. Got my coffee and the groups came on to breakfast.

Then church. It was OK. As I have said our priest is pretty boring and not a very good preacher so I mostly go for the Eucharist and to see people I like.

Then its back to work and to look around JUB for awhile which has been fun.

You can see from all this how really exciting my life is.

This week my co-worker in the office is on vacation so I will have the whole week to work and peruse JUB and other sites to my hearts content. Wow that will be nice.

By having these sites open about 3 days per week we don't have lots of garbage strewn all around the place as they make it easy to drop your garbage off. No fuss no muss.

I could see from my bed that the valley was full of fog this AM when I woke up. I got up with my usual pee hard on went to the toilet and relieved myself and took my shower and shaved. Not much to report today. The weather here is gray and cloudy and warmer.

I have tons of work to do in my office today so I guess I should get at it.

I watched a movie called Festival Express about a train ride across Canada in 1970 with all these rock stars on board. It was a hoot and a blast from the past to see all those hippies that looked just like me back then! Hard to believe that could have been me. The music was great.

It is very sunny here in the mountains but also very cold today and we have a pretty good wind blowing right now. All in all that makes it great for the ski slopes to blow snow for Presidents Day Weekend which is huge around here.

Runner asked where I got all the movies I watch. I used to buy them at my local video store and at
Wal-Mart when they went on sale or through Amazon Market Place but recently at the urging of friends joined Netflix. I really like their selection and their service. I usually get one day turnaround as they have a shipping center in Greensboro NC. Good selection of indie films and documentaries and a good gay selection.

It cost me I think $19 per month and I can have 3 movies at a time off my list. They have other levels both cheaper and more expensive as well. It is a good deal for someone like me who likes to watch a movie per day! Do I have a life or what! LOL!

We are still having nice beautiful sunny days but very cold wind and weather. I do like it and hope it lasts about 3-4 more weeks. Then I will be ready for spring. We all know that the weather does what i ask it to. LOL!

In my bolg yesterday Runner asked me what percentage of movies I watch are gay. I replied to him that I would have to say only about 5%.

I like a story in my film and quite frankly most gay films today just don't have a real story. I wonder sometimes if that is a punishment by the makers of film. I would think that there are great movie makers and writers out there who are gay and have wonderful gay stories to tell but the money backers are not there to make the films.

I wish I had the kind of money it would take to bankroll a good gay film because I think they are wrong and I think a good gay film could make money.

Don't get me wrong there are some great gay films out there just not many.

Nice crisp cool sunny winter February Day. Went hiking around the property and it was a joy to be in the woods. The Rhodo's and the hemlocks and pines are still green but all else is bare and you can see for a long time. Lovely time to be in the woods. Saw a few deer and some very blue bluebirds or Indigo Buntings not sure which they were.

Went to a neighbors house and land where they have a 50 foot waterfall. It was spectacular. Lots of ice on the edges and rushing water and the sounds were incredible. Little rainbows around the edges and different colored rocks with moss etc. Water was cold. Very cold. WOW the power of nature and the power of water.

Well of course today in my part of the world it is Sunday so that means I go to church. Today actually was not bad. The sermon was OK rather than bad so that is good. At least I listened for most of it instead of dozing off as I usually do with this preacher.

We are in lent so we use Rite 1 which can be a bit old fashioned but at least it does not happen very often.

It is kind of drizzling today and they say we may get a mixture of rain, sleet and snow. i hoe it is snow for all the skier in town but as I don't or can't control the weather they will just have to take what they get. LOL!

I feel like this blog has been sort of boring the past few days. Sorry if it seems that way to you.

What does payday mean to you. Are you the employer who has to pay out the big bucks or are you the employee who can't wait to receive your check and never think it has enough of the big bucks.

What a divergence of thought goes on today between the two parties. Sort of funny to think about it.

We supposedly give out the paychecks at 2 PM on Tuesday but everyone is sort of hanging around early just in case and just to see if by some chance we have signed them early.

I must confess that usually I do sign them early but why do I do that? And why do we have the 2 PM rule? Just another control issue I suppose but no matter what time you said they were ready people would want the earlier.

Don't get me wrong I have great employees working here for me but sometimes in some weeks they don't really earn their paychecks or at least all of them but they always think they deserve their paychecks.

I also guess that is my fault that I don't push them harder when I see them slacking but sometimes I just don't know.

The eternal struggle between the employer and the employee! LOL! Got to make you laugh or maybe cry.

The sun is out again today. Maybe it will be another awesome day here in the mountains. Yesterday was truly spectacular. Just one of those incredible days you are just glad to be alive.

I upgraded my safety deposit box at my bank yesterday to a larger size. I was having to cram all my stuff in there and it was getting very tight.
