I went to Asheville yesterday and got to got to Sam's Club and buy some needed stuff and I got my fix at Starbucks!!! Then to an Indian Restaurant I know for their lunch buffet then I had a bunch of meetings and stuff to do all afternoon finally finishing up around 5:30 PM and heading home up the mountain for my 1 1/2 hour drive in the pouring rain.

But it is springtime and the grass was green and the flowers and trees were blooming and as Asheville is about 1-2 weeks ahead of us up here it was great to see what we are in store for in a few weeks! Gald of the time change so I did not have to drive in the dark.

So today it's back at work but I do have my annual physical in about an hour and have to drive to town for that. I like my doctor and he is cool and all but I must say I just don't care for it when he shoves his finger up my very tight ass hole to feel my prostate. I mean I know why he has to do it but the whole process of pulling down your boxer briefs and leaning over the examining table and hearing him snap on the rubber glove and then well you know what it's like.

Then he hands me that tissue to wipe the shit off and well I know I am weird but it just turns me completely off.

I will let you know how it goes. As they do the blood work today I won't know what those results are for another week.

Rain today but we can always use it.

peace to you all today and always.

Today is Thursday. Bright and sunny this AM but when I went out my back door to leave the house I almost slipped on my ass as the back porch was covered with ICE! I wasn't prepared and if it had not been for my 56 year old lightning reflexes I would have landed right on my ass. LOL! What a sight that would have been.

I was thinking about calendars this AM. I love calendars! I think they are a way to have art in your house that changes on a monthly basis. I have about 6 or 7 at home and then another 3 or 4 at work. I love to look at them during the month and then to change them over on the first day of the new month. People think I am nuts but hey I might be.

My doctors appointment went well yesterday. I am in good shape other than being about 20 pounds overweight which I already knew. They took blood so I will get those results back next week to see if my cholesterol has gone down with my loss of weight. If not then he will up my Lipitor.

They took my Bextra off the market last week. First my Vioxx now my Bextra. He has me on some other older drug now to control the pain in my hip. I can't remember the name.

I also need to get off the stick and make an appointment to see the Orthopedic Doctor about my hip replacement. Needs to be done but I have been putting it off. I just don't want to take the time for the recuperation. Sometimes up to 12 weeks.

I also have Dysgraphia which is a big word for bad handwriting. I shit you not they have a word for bad handwriting. My handwriting is really bad and sometimes it gets worse. My hand shakes when I write sometimes and I can't remember the words. I have no trouble at the computer. He did all kinds of tests to see if I had early Parkinsonism or early Dementia but he ruled those out which was good.

He also wants me to have a Colonoscopy done. So I am checking up on that right now. In the next year he said.

So that was my big day. After my appointment I went and had a skim milk latte for my reward!

Peace to you all today and good health to everyone.

Today is that day of the week that so many people long for each week because it means the last day of their work week and the start of their weekend.

Having been working in the hospitality industry for so long Friday is just another day where I get ready for another day to get ready for another day.

Weekends are busy for us and we work when we are busy so Fridays are just another day. Oh well. Not sure where this was going!

Yesterday I walked our boundary line on the top of our mountain with some of our staff. It was great to be out in the woods this time of year before everything leafs out. You can see long distances and everything is just getting ready to burst out.

We found the deer runs and the places where the black bears had been digging grubs. We checked our line and put up new NO TRESPASSING signs where they were needed. I hate them but they are necessary to keep the unwanted hunters out of our land and away from our bears and deer and turkeys etc.

The Wild Iris are blooming and the May Apples are just starting. The Bloodroot will be up soon and these little yellow flowers (I think a kind of wild violets) were everywhere.

I did to much walking with my bad hip but I wasn't going to let my hip stop me from going out into the woods. I love it there so much. I feel so calm and at peace in the woods.

This morning the mist was again swirling around the valley and I could see the neighbors smoke from their wood stove mixed with the mist. They are so different and distinct and you can tell them apart if you look carefully.

Last night I got up at 12:55 AM to pee and I looked out the sliding glass door which was open and the quarter moon was just setting behind the mountain I can see from my bedroom. It was beautiful and the shadows it cast were magical. I stood there naked watching it. I of course let my hand go to my crotch and my balls were low hanging from the warmth of my bed. I squeezed them and rolled them in my hand and they soon grew smaller due to the cold air coming in the open door where I was standing.

It felt good to just stand there and watch the moon as it set slowly. Finally I did have to pee and return to the wonderful warmth of my bed where I fell asleep once again.

My dog loves to sleep right in front of the open door where he can smell the smells and tastes the fresh air I guess.

I do hope your day is good and that your weekend is great no matter what you do. peace

Here I am at work early on a Saturday AM. It was cold last night so we had to run the furnace but it won't be long before we can shut her off for the season. Now it is shut off during the week and then on the weekends we fire her up to provide the needed heat to knock the chill off these old walls.

The sun is shining and it looks like a great day. My first cup of coffee is by my side and I have a meeting scheduled for this AM from 10-noon and then lunch.

Then I am not sure what this afternoon will bring for me.

Spring is so beautiful around here as I am sure it is everywhere. You just have to look for the beauty around you as I think someone said at some time or other.

Hope your day is beautiful.

peace to all

BRRRR It's cold this AM. But then driving by the wetland area that we have restored and seeing all the mist rising from the pools of water was amazing. So gorgeous. Frost on the grass and the mist rising into the air.

I drove down to the store to get my paper and didn't pass a soul on the road. So quiet out there.

Now I have my coffee and my paper and JUB. What more could anyone ask for I tell you!!!

I am going to DC for the week early tomorrow morning.

Movies that will never come here, ethnic foods that we will never get here, museums we don't have. I am going to go to the new Native American Museum and am looking forward to that.

Del Ray Dreamery for frozen custard. If you have never had frozen custard then find a place near you. There is actually a web site dedicated to finding frozen custard places. www.frozencustard.com Anyway there is a section called Del Ray in Alexandria and Liz owns the Del Ray Dreamery. She has a great juke box that only plays songs that have the name dream in them. She has puzzles and games to play if you want but most of all she has great frozen custard and other goodies and treats!

I will go to Shirrlington to the great movie theatre there and great restaurants.

I will go to Traders Joe's Market.

I think the cherry blossoms will still be in bloom as well. Also will see some old college friends.

So have a great week no matter what you do and I will see you when I see you.

peace

OK it is supposed to be springtime here even in the mountains but today we are having snow, high winds and cold blustery wintry weather. Whats up with that!

I think it is happening because I went out and bought some deck furniture yesterday and some flowers and plants for my garden! Jokes on me but at least I didn't plant anything.

I got back from a great week away. I mean an awesome week away. I guess I needed some time away with friends. I went to DC with an old college friend and we had a blast. We saw other old friends who live in the DC area.

I saw a whole bunch of movies. I was in movie heaven!!! I will review them in my thread later. I saw them all at the theater in Shirlington. Imagine my surprise when I drove up and saw all the construction going on. It used to be such a nice quiet place with lots of parking but not any longer. Oh well. If I could afford to live there I would!

I saw
Millions - great awesome see it!!!
Schultze Gets the Blues - awesome see it! Very slow but that is the point.
Walk On water - see it. Maybe the best film I have ever seen. Very hot German guy in it. Good film about gays although that was not the central theme.
Ballad of Jack and Rose - OK but not great

We ate at Carlyle Grill in Shirlington for a lunch and a dinner
We had coffee and croissants and read the Washington Post in the mornings at Best Buns next door. It was warm and wonderful watching people on their way to work knowing we could just sit there and sit there!
We had a great Indian dinner at Raga on King Street
We had a wonderful dinner at Evening Star in Del Ray
We had great frozen custard at the Del Ray Dreamery - Liz who runs the place is awesome!

Shopping was good.

We went to the National Museum of the American Indian and it was awesome. It was spectacular. Go see. Please go see it. The two films they are showing are incredible. The displays are amazing. The building is WOW. They have these huge prisms built into one long tall window high up on the lobby wall that cast rainbows all around the lobby. Kids and adults were letting the rainbows get all over them and I enjoyed watching them. Really wonderful place.

I rode the metro and as always loved it. Many of the escalators are of course broken but the metro is wonderful and a great way to get around.

7 house car ride there and 7 hours back but we put in great Cd's and sang our way up through Virginia. Wonderful ride.

It was great to see old friends and catch up like there had been no time passing between our last visit.

So all in all it was a great week away and now of course I will pay for being away with a desk full of work and a very busy 2 weeks coming up for me.

So I will try and write something each day in my blog but my time will be limited.

I missed you all and hope your time as good and well spent.

peace to all

Well we did have about an inch or so of snow yesterday and it did snow all day long. the winds were blowing as well and it was very cold. Today I noticed that the tulips had dropped their petals. We will have to see what else has been killed by the cold.

Big full moon the last few nights. Did you notice? It was wonderful. So bright and so full. Shinning in my bedroom window much of the night. Reflecting off the snow.

Today it is piles and piles of work to sift through. Punishment for going on vacation.

peace to you all

Got to work this AM and our wonderful painter was outside in the cold painting the windows on the first floor. I remarked about how cold it was. My hands were frozen already. Our breath was frosty. He said as how it was cold but kept on painting the window frame.

A few minutes later when I went outside to go to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee he was packing up and said he would be back later when it warmed up a bit.

It is hard to tell anyone anything I have concluded after 30 years in this business!

The sky this morning was lovely shades of blue and red and white as I lay in bed watching through my window.

I think it will be a great day but then each day is so great that we have another chance to do something to make a difference in our own lives or the lives of someone else. Hopefully that is!

peace to all

All right I have a question and it is probably stupid and I know it is naive but I will ask it anyway!

I know I live an isolated life. I know I am a virgin when it comes to being gay. I know I am soooo naive but.....

I rented a copy of Queer Like Folk from netflix to watch yesterday and I got through the first episode and thought to myself. What the fuck!

I mean the sex looked nice and the skin was certainly nice but do people really act like this? Is this show any version of any kind of reality in the gay world?

Everyone seeemd so stereotypical. So plastic. Of course you also have to remeber that I don't watch regular TV as well so maybe all TV is like this show.

Perhaps some of my readers would like to enlighten me on this matter.

I was amazed that it ever was shown on TV. How long did the show last? Is it still on?

I would love to start a thread on the regular boards but am afraid that I would really be ridiculed more than I already am at being a naive virgin mountain man.

I sent it back this morning without watching the other three episodes on the DVD.

I feel so out of touch today and that makes me depressed and I never get depressed in fact I don't even know what it feels like to be depressed.

peace to all

Looks to be a nice day here in the mountains today. Already sunny and bright. Chilly last night with a light frost this AM all over the grass.

Lots of trees had their first leaves burned by the hard freeze this past weekend but they should be strong enough to come back for a second try. Let's hope so at least.

On my way to get coffee in the kitchen here at work I have to walk up these stairs outside which are bordered on each side by flower beds. The blue flox (I think it is) is so beautiful right now spilling over the rocks. Like flowers imitating a waterfall almost.

We are supposed to get rain this weekend but up here in the mountains weather can change in an instant and you just never know.

Hope you all have a great day. peace

Of course they do say April showers bring May flowers so I welcome the rain and hope it feeds the underground water system that is the basis for all life.

I am always amazed at the water system and how it works and the whole cycle of water falling to earth, soaking into the earth, then either coming back out from springs or being tapped by wells and starting the process over again. What are the odds of this happening here on this one planet. Those are the kinds of things that have me believing in a God or in nature or whatever. It happened here and nowhere else and that is freaky.

The valley and the mountains are covered with mist this Am and i have my coffee and am checking my e-mail and of course JUB. Updating this blog and changing my signature.

We have a very busy day today and a very busy weekend in store for me and next week is well bust as well. Big meetings. I have to give a report. It is up to 6 pages as of today and not sure how much more I will have by Tuesday when it must be presented.

I hope all of you have a wonderful day and a wonderful weekend peace

Amazing how the week goes by and returns again to its starting place or its ending place or whatever today might be for you in your week.

We are busy this weekend and it is lightly raining this AM but I think it is supposed to move out by midday.

But who knows. I have work to do preparing for my big meeting next week. I like the way my report is shaping up at the moment but I have to massage it and tweak it a bit to make it say just the right words.

I saw an amazing bird yesterday. Red and black and white. I don't think it was a woodpecker but it might have been. I need to find my bird book and see if I can find it.

The new Cirque Du Soleil called Varekai is coming to Charlotte NC he end of October this year. I want to go. I have seen it once and it blew my mind away.

peace to all today and always.

It was cold this AM when I got up. Around 30 degrees but it felt good and I could see that the weather would move out and that the sun would come out and here it is. It will be a gorgeous late spring day for the first day of May.

A bit of a wind blowing but it still feels very good.

Went to church this AM and it was OK. Guest preacher as our regular guy is at a conference in FL. As he is not a great preacher I always look forward to his guests but his guest wasn't that great either. LOL!

He did give me a few things to think about this week. Not as good as the woman priest in the church a few towns over that I sometimes go to when I am able and not working here. Now she can really preach it as they say.

Fried chicken for lunch today and smashed potatoes. Yum good!

Hope all of you have a wonder-filled day. peace

Of course that does depend on what you do. Perhaps your week started on Sunday or maybe on Saturday or maybe tomorrow.

Confusing isn't it?

Confusion is what makes our lives as humans so interesting isn't it?

Someone asked what my evelvation was where I live. It is 2,832 feet above sea level. There is an official US marker fixed in a rock on our property so that is the only reason I know. Up on the top of our mountain it is about 3,200 feet.

Last night was cold but not to cold. The sliding glass door was left open all night. I love it cause my dog sleeps right in front of the open screen door so he can smell all those wonderful delicious night time smells I guess.

Every time I get up to go pee in the night I disturb his sleep but I always stand for a minute or two and look out the door and see if I can see anything. I watch the stars or maybe a car making its way up the mountain over across the valley. I smell the night air and I scratch my balls and dick of course!

Today is sunny already and it looks like a great day.

My big meeting is tomorrow so I must finish up my report and get it printed and stapled and ready. Also need to set-up the room and get the agenda ready.

I will check in from time to time but I wish you all the best for a most productive and wonder-filled day.

peace to you all

Well my presentation to the big meeting is in about 2 and one half hours. Keep me in your thoughts. I have been working on it off and on over the past few months but really working hard on it this past week. Honing and changing and reading and changing it here and there. Tweaking it to say what I want it to say.

It is exactly 7 pages long and I have to read it aloud today.

I think it is good and I am proud of what we have accomplished around here in the past several months.

We had a light frost last night and I brought all our hanging baskets inside. I hung them back out this AM and it felt good to walk out on the deck and look around the valley and see the wood smoke coming from a chimney over here and over there. Sunny and clear this AM. Going to be a great day.

Hey I almost forgot its PAYDAY today so that always makes it a good day.

peace to you all today and always.

Well this is Wednesday the day after my big meeting which went well. They discussed things I never thought they would discuss which seems to always be the case with a board. So off the wall but so well intentioned but the good news is they love us and they think we are doing a wonderful job so that is good. Lots of compliments which make my head bigger than it already is. LOL!

I do pass them on to our incredible staff so they know that at least someone notices the great job they do.

Neighbors have been reporting hummingbirds for the past three weeks. The ones that come to our porch outside our office don't usually show up this early but this AM I went up to the kitchen to make my first batch of hummingbird juice.

I take 4 cups of water to 1 cup of sugar. I first boil the water and then add the sugar and boil for a few minutes. I then pour it in a large plastic container and store it in the refrigerator and use as needed for the birds.

In the height of the season we can have as many as 20-30 around the feeder at a time. It is quite a show as they squeak and squawk and feed and feed.

Did you know they are the only bird that can fly backwards?

So hope you all have incredible days filled with joy. peace to all

This morning when I came into the office after stopping to get my cup of coffee I spied my first hummingbird of the season. I guess that old adage of "If you Hang the Hummingbird Feeder They Will Come" is true. LOL!

This morning I lay in bed about 6 AM and through the open sliding glass door I could hear the early morning birds calling to each other telling the world its was time to get up. I lay there peacefully lying under my goose down quilt. All snug and warm. My cock was hard and hurting because I really had to pee badly but I just didn't want to get out of my warm cocoon. What a conundrum it was. I squeezed it and touched it and scratched my balls and pubes. I did manage to lie there for 20 minutes before I got up quickly and went to the bathroom peed my bladder empty and then ran back into bed.

But the spell was broken and it wasn't the same any longer. The morning had been broken for me and I knew it was only a matter of time before I would get up and take my shower, shave, brush my teeth etc. and come on into work.

So here I am ready to start another day.

Hope yours is a good one.

I am reading the new Sue Monk Kidd book Mermaid Chair. So far I like it but I have only read about 80 pages. It has gotten mixed reviews but I think people just thought she would write another Secret Life of Bees and as an author she needs to expand. Readers want the same and that is not fair to an author.

Since March I have read the following books.

Blink - Malcolm Gladwell
Charles Kuralts America
John Lescroart - The First Law, Mercy Rule and The Oath
Toast - The Story of a Boys Hunger - Nigel Slater

So what will you do with your wild and crazy day???

peace to all

Hope all of you that start your weekend on Friday have a great day thinking about all the wonderful things you are going to do on your time off.

This morning it was nice and foggy in the valley. Chilly as well.

As I was driving to work I almost drove off the road when I looked over at the wetland area and spied this huge black bird. I think it was a duck but I am not sure. Maybe a huge goose. I will go back in a bit and see if I can identify it.

Today is wonderful. My office worker is gone today and I have to go to town and do some quick errands and then the whole rest of the day I have set aside to write in my story. I don't have any real work to do so I get to write and edit all day long. What joy!

peace to you all today and always

Looks like a great day to work outside.

I have a little raised bed that needs attention so that I can plant some flowers in there in a few weeks. The weeds grow so fast. One day they are not there and then the next they are. How does that happen?

I also have two community flower beds that I help maintain and they really need some attention so I will need to not only pull weeds but also use the weed eater as well and cut the grass and weeds around the beds.

The hummers have really come back early this year. They have already drunk 1/3 of the bottle I put out just a few days ago. Thirsty little buggers aren't they.

Did you know they are the only bird that can fly backwards?

So lots to do.

Hope your day is good. peace to all

Wow what a day. bright sunshine all day long. Cool breeze all day long. Just amazing. I was outside working all day almost.

There is something so wonderfully hypnotic about using a weed-eater. The motor drowns out all sound. You are in your own little world. I know I should use ear protection but I blew out my ears long ago at Grateful Dead and Canned Heat and Jimi Hendricks and Janis Joplin concerts to name just a few.

You let the string out and you cut a path. Swirling rotating motor swirls the line around and cuts the grass. The smell of the grass hits your nostrils and you drink deeply of the smells of the earth. Onion this time of year mixed with other smells. The grass flys all over the place. I do wear eye protection since being hit in the face a number of times by small flying debris or rocks etc.

I also walked along the river by our field and looked for fish and other creatures living in the cold rushing stream I didn't see much. Lots of birds out today.

I also weeded and dug in the vegetable and flower beds.

I never got to three of my beds so they will just have to wait until tomorrow.

I went home exhausted and I had overworked my hip joint and so I am not in pain and suffering somewhat but it was worth it to be outside. I am going to see a doctor next week about my hip to see when I can schedule surgery. Probably in the fall with be my first chance.

I took a great hot shower and loved watching all the grass clippings and dirt and mud flow down the drain and I stuff under the hot water. I then shaved and went to sit in my lounger chair looking out over the valley and well I guess I just had to do it! I beat off and it was good. Great session if I must say so myself. the I took a short 30 minute nap and I am now up and refreshed and ready to go.

I am trying to work out the next chapter in my story and well it just makes me naturally hard when I think about Timmy and Tom and all their friends and adventures.

So now I am here for a bit and then going to drive into town and treat myself to dinner at a place I like. I have my book The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd and I will read and eat and then come home and I guess watch a movie. How original!

Peace to you all
