calling someone ignorant is not very christian either.
But you have to enjoy the irony of someone who thinks horses can form legal consent calling others "ignorant".

An interesting article on the verdict from The Economist. Forgive me for not giving me own two cents. I'm not sure I have made up my mind on the verdict yet.

Too bad I never said such a thing.
I pity your children having to be in that house with you.
There is nothing wrong with gay people adopting children.
The John Jay quote was only shown to provide the fact that not all the Founding Fathers shared the same views on religion in government.
By the way, Mercury, I am not a gay hater. I would expect you to say something ignorant like that though. I pity your children having to be in that house with you.
You said you were Catholic in another post. Does it not bother you that the earliest people who professed this a Christian nation were such profoundly anti-Catholic bigots? Don't you realize that those who today propound that we are a Christian nation are equally bigoted people?
the forties and fifties were not kind to the catholics. They were not even close to being allowed in the political scene before that.
So how the hell did so many of them get on the SC?

the kennedy family improved the way the nation looked at them and by and large the prejudices were let go when Kennedy gave his life for his nation. He also proved that he was not the patsy of the Pope as people had feared.
The kennedies were Tralblazers and their dedication to the nation and the cause of wiping out racism removed most of the old prejudices.
They're mostly from the NYC metropolitan area. Well educated part of the country and a high concentration of lawyers. Scalia and Sotomayor are from NYC, and Alito is from New Jersey, right outside NYC. Kagan and Ginsburg, although not Catholic, are also from NYC. So, 5 of the 9 justices of the SCOTUS are from the NY Metropolitan area.
Kennedy and Breyer are from California. Roberts is from Buffalo, NY (but the family moved to Indiana when he was still in school). Thomas is from Georgia. It's kind of interesting that all of the judges are from New York, New Jersey and California, except Thomas.
^ the demographics are quite fascinating.
Saying "we're a Christian nation" is a fool's attempt to shut down conversation. But Christian nation or not, the electorate is not uniform in its opinion on this (or other) matters, and we still have a Constitution that guarantees equal protection and due process that is not contingent on a religious position.
It makes sense given the world class schools in the northeast and California.
Scalia went to Xavier High School in Chelsea, a very old and highly regarded Jesuit High School. It has an illustrious list of alumni, including Al Roker and Wendy Williams' personal hair stylist.
It's sad that there exist gays who are so beholden to conservative thought that they buy the conservative Slippery Slope fallacy about their own rights.
And a former Mayor of NYC, a former District Attorney of New York County, a former Medal of Honor recipient, a former president of Anheuser-Busch. Why do you feel the need to attack the school for?
By the way, sorry to tell you but you got duped. Wendy Williams hairstylist? You didn't realize that was somebody making jokes on Wikipedia?
