She's fucking with the wrong people now. It is unheard of for someone to even suggest to cut Veterans disability benefits. I am not posting this as I am a Veteran, It does not affect me. I'm getting no entitlements from what she wants to cut. This is benefits for military coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Veterans Slam Michele Bachmann’s Plan To Cut Vet Benefits: They're 'Heartless'

In her tea party-fueled quest to cut government spending and social programs, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has unveiled a plan to cut $400 billion in federal

spending that includes freezing the Veterans Affairs Department’s health care spending and cuts veterans’ disability benefits. The Air Force Times reports her plan

would slice $4.5 billion from the VA, including reducing 150,000 veterans’ disability compensation and the amount they receive in Social Security Disability Income.

A host of veterans groups slammed Bachmann’s plan:

–Veterans of Foreign War national commander Richard L. Eubank said, “The only discussion the VFW wants is to tell the congresswoman that her plan is totally out

of step with America’s commitment to our veterans.” “No way, no how, will we let this proposal get any traction in Congress,” said Eubank. “There are certain things

you do not do when our nation is at war, and at the top of that list is not caring for our wounded and disabled servicemen and women when they return home,” he

said. “I want her to look those disabled veterans in the eye and tell them their service and sacrifice is too expensive for the nation to bear.”

We're broke and cuts have to be made. That's the way life is going to be from now on. Let's get out of the mind set that everybody gets everything they want. That's why we're $14,000,000,000,000 in the hole.

I think there needs to be a percentage cut across the board just to make it fair.

If we can't afford to take care of the people we're sending off to war, than we shouldn't be involved in it in the first place.

Hey.

Good for her.

She's getting that teabagger message out.

This oughta help her with her aspirations to become president.

Shouldn't the churches and VAF be able to make up the difference through bake sales?

Or another idea. Every banker, stockmerchant, oil exec and military materiels producer should have one or two dozen disabled vets move in with them and their families. Every Congressman and senator should take their share as well.

All the others could be sent to homes of all the teabaggers out there who I know would be delighted to provide the care, rehabilitation and therapy that these vets need.

After all, these vets were wounded defending Americans' rights to get rich, get cheap oil and sleep safe at night.

If there are any left, the country could have a lottery.

This would also include other countries as well. Send a pro-rata share of all the vets to the other western nations who you believe have been free-loading off the US being the world's policeman.

Surprise!!!!You've been picked to take care of your very own soldier. Your medical insurance will now pay for your very own adopted vet's healthcare.

After all, these vets were wounded defending Americans' and other western nations rights to get rich, get cheap oil and sleep safe at night.

To paraphrase Senator John McCain:

'At this moment of immense hardship for our armed services, we should not be seeking to [strike]overturn the 'don't ask, don't tell' policy,[/strike] to cut the budget for our veterans returning from service.'

I'm just saying.

Obviously you do not or never had relied on government assistance for anything. Don't worry, though. Your time will come.

It's always easier to make cuts when they don't significantly impact you.

You are a fool if you rely on the government for anything. The promise to provide for us isn't going to be met as we move forward. That's just a fact of life.

The reality is the we need to make cuts in every area of government if we are to remain solvent. We've pissed away $1,500,000,000,000 that we don't have, this year alone. The party is over. No sacred cows.

How about cutting all politicians pay and benefits to what a real person makes working in a store or what's left of our factories. That wont ever happen but it's a dream we real guys have.

Completely agreed, 100%.

Even those on the Right are turning against Bachmann, as they know she is a complete loon that simply plays to the extremes of her Party. Someone needs to bomb her district to prevent the loons that make it up from keep re-electing her.

You are a fool, or a liar,or in denial, if you are saying you (or anyone close to you) has never benefited from any type of government assistance, or think will never have to in your lifetime.

I am not relying on anything from the government, or at least not planning my life around it. But I at least do recognize some types of government assistance have greatly helped people truly in need.

Well said.

But let's just wait, shall we, to see what the Teabagger sacred cows are, where they won't support any form of funding cut that might hurt their chances of re-election.

And then compare.

I haven't uttered a single word being critical of any type of program not being of some benefit. I've simply said we can't afford them all anymore. But you are wise to plan yor life without government assistance. This way you won't suffer a disappointment once it's gone.

We all need a plan "B" in case things turn to shit, as it appears that they are. We've got states looking to be included in bankruptcy laws or to get bailed out by Uncle Sam. I personally could care less if SS is there for me. Just give me what I've put in and we'll call it even.

I'm surprised you'd be foolish enough to even suggest that the Vet disabilities be cut. That $14etc was created by your man Bush, ie the illegal wars he started! These Veterans did not go to war to become crippled for life. The least we can do is take care of them in their hour of need. May God help you if you ever get to the point your life will be ended if you don't get medical help somewhere.:grrr:

Which will only make them even more dependent on special interest money and support. The best government money can buy.

Current Republican belief: "Love the war, hate the soldier."

how does cutting some money instantly translate into "we're going to be throwing cripples out into the streets"?

Michele Bachmann is a moron and I wouldn't trust a lunch order if it came from her, but I don't think even she is suggesting that we disband the VA.

The point is, that any cuts to VA disability will affect the men and women who were injured over there. Think of half their brain blown off by IEDs. That's strong for what I'm saying, but any cuts is wrong.

IIRC, reports said the VA was underfunded even before Bush decided we needed more kids shot and blown up. Calling for more cuts is ridiculous.

How about we slash all federal salaries to the U.S. median for five years, instead.

Thank you for being completely frank and honest. This is exactly what the TeaBaggers need to say to America. Then, we'll see if America is really ready for the TeaParty or not. I think it's time that the TeaBaggers shut down the government. Again, let the American people see what the party is about, and if they approve.

Can I just say something that annoys me? Cause I'm gonna go on an assumption that a ton of you guys are older than I and from a different generation. Since your generation fucked things up and reaped the benefits, how about this, you don't get to take it away from us, and you're still going to pay for it so stop bitching and just be glad we are letting you stay on US soil.
