(video) Americans try Canadian snack food

I haven't seen this sold in the states yet... chocolate covered sponge toffee. Mmmmmmmmmm, eh?

And does taste better from a bag than from a carton?

I think the east still has bagged milk, but I'm from the west, and I haven't seen it in about 20 years. You put the bag in one of those plastic jugs, and you snip the corner off... the whole thing doesn't seem like a very good idea.

Not sure I've ever seen any Canadian snacks here, but we do have a lot of Mexican ones from the "BIMBO" company.
Borg, does your Mexican store sell the BIMBO snacks which are like Belgian waffles, and really fragile? They're wonderful, even though they're little more than plain fried dough, but I can't find them anymore. I never saw them in the United States, only Mexco, but I didn't see them the most recent time in Mexico (Agua Prieta, Sonora) either. It would probably help if I remembered exactly what they were called.

Cheezies are like really really hard Cheetos.
Or the "crispy Cheetos" for that matter. (Are those no longer made?)

I've had Mexican candy...The suckers that are shaped like a whole fryer chicken aren't too bad.
The treat for cocksuckers??????

The best packaged cookies come from Canada. Try the Dare or Voortman brands!
No cookie in the world was ever better than COLONIAL brand CHOCOLATE FUDGE cookies. Sort of like an Oreo with chocolate icing, but **FAR** better than such Oreos would ever be - Canadian chocolate is just...better. I haven't seen that brand in at least 20 years, though I think it was 1999 when I found them as a house brand at Zeller's (I recognized the artwork scroll on the wafer), but, alas, no more. Well, DARE is almost as good. I find it VERY STRANGE that, as far as I can determine, no American cookie uses a chocolate wafer and chocolate filling.

Not just very strange, but entirely bizarre. I know that if they exist, I've never SEEN such a cookie made in the United States.

And does taste better from a bag than from a carton?
It's rather aesthetically unappetizing, but I actually think it's a great idea! Less air gets into the bag, compared to the big empty parts of the carton as the milk is depleted. Less air means, I assume, that the milk will last longer.

The plastic bags don't transfer flavour to the milk the way plastic jugs and waxed cardboard cartons do. And, even though the corner is snipped off, the milk doesn't pick up refrigerator odours either. The bags are completely recyclable.

I can't even remember the last time I bought milk either in a carton or jug.

^ Not to mention, also, that the milk bags require fewer resources to manufacture!

I also meant to mention, though it's not a SNACK FOOD (but it is indeed Canadian), that HABITANT French-Canadian SPLIT PEA SOUP must be tried, if one has the chance. Incredibly wonderful! Some supermarket near me used to have it in Michigan when I was a kid. I certainly have to order it much more often than I ever actually manage to get to Canada.

But, OK, why would bagged milk be in eastern Canada but not in the west? THAT is weird.

^ I always keep at least 2 large tins of Habitant Pea Soup with Ham on hand at all times. Heavenly.

Had a Canadian once, he was tasty.
The real question is whether you raised him with only the finest organic ingredients...

And did you? Because we all know the type of man you are.

Frank, I feel most fortunate because both Dare and Voortman's sell their Maple cream cookies in Rochester area supermarkets. I love them too! :D

poutine (pronounced 'poo-teen') is french fries smothered in hot, chicken gravy, and topped with cheese curds which melt in the gravy.

yum!

Poutine is actually properly pronounced "Poo-tin"

Just sayin'

And Kuli, Maple Sugar candy definitely originated in Canada, it's not uncommon for the US and Canada to adopt eachother's foods, snacks and culinary cuisine.
