Video - boiling water turned to snow instantly

I was just in Yellowknife earlier today. I'm back in Edmonton now.

It was -41 C this morning in Yellowknife. Water freezes so fast at that temperature.

You haven't lived unless you've seen an 18 INCH water main blow out of the middle of the street at -30. It was buried 12 feet deep, too.

Which explains why I'm pretty much over Upper Peninsula winters. :D

Remind me to try this tommorrow night... it's supposed to get to -20F tommorrow.

I just tried it at -22°C (here right now).

It worked! :)

My only question is, if it's really that damn cold how can that guy have no hat? Shouldn't his ears have turned to ice too?

If there is no (or very little) wind, frigid temperatures are quite tolerable for quite some time. It's only after prolonged exposure that the extremities begin to freeze, and you get all sorts of warning signs before that happens (one of which is extreme pain).
