I must say that people have been extremely generous; the story seems to have touched both their hearts and their wallets.

46 000$ in one day is a lot of money and I just hope the boy manages to cope with life and this unexpected windfall. It seems rare that a gay boy being thrown out by his parents receives such generosity from complete strangers and I can understand the jealousy and bewilderment over the amount of money raised.

Let's hope this gives him a start in life that many others never had and that he can overcome the hatred he has suffered.

Of course, there are plenty of gays kicked out of homes that are not slack-jawed yokels with stereotypical Southern accents, but they wouldn't get the same resonance I think due to this being a trope.
